- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
For most "small businesses" $50 to build and host their web site. This included e-mail accounts and a few "normal" updates. I have done sites that required a lot of customer interaction and work that ran as high as $500 I normally charge a small fee for the web work and domain name and this will become the yearly fee. 90% of sites are in the $150 or lower range.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
For web design I like to talk to the customer about their business, find out what is special about that business. I ask the customer what they want the web site to do, many do not know what they want. I spell out what can be done and what to expect as far as results on the web. I believe a will informed customer will be a happy customer.
