United garage door pros was exactly the kind of service I was looking for when I search on thumbtack -- a smaller business that pays attention to details and to the customer. The cost of the work was very reasonable and Sam was very willing to spend more time with me to answer all my questions and explain my options. My spring and cables were all shot and the panels on damaged on the door -- we had him replace the spring and cables, but Sam worked with me on whether or not it'd be possible to get by without replacing the whole door (because of the messed up panels). In the end, by his suggestion, I spent about $20 to pick up 2 garage door struts, installed them relatively quickly and now the door opens and closes as smooth as butter. Before working with Sam, I was already somewhat resigned to needing to replace the whole door, so I'm definitely glad to have worked with him and ended up with the results I did for as small a price as I had to pay.
