Steven is a consummate professional. His performance in the kitchen is second to none. Steven prepared meals for dinner parties spanning three years that garnered rave reviews from guests for weeks to follow. His menu selection, imagination, and presentation were above and beyond expectations. Steven is kind, understated, easy going, prompt and very organized. His attention to detail, care of his equipment, and care and concern for his surroundings were impressive (from someone who obsessive with cleanliness and control). It is obvious that Steven has used his professional culinary training as a spring board for innovation and creativity related to healthy food trends and international flavors. New Orleans' loss is Toledo's gain.

Steven Auxter catered a luncheon for 24 ladies in my home. His professionalism, attentiveness, and service were flawless. In addition, the menu was thoughtfully created. It was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. The individual portions were ample, but not excessive. While he worked in the kitchen, he was efficient, organized, and quick. I was able to enjoy the luncheon with my friends, knowing the Steven had the food preparation and service utterly under control. When he left, the kitchen and dining room were spotless. Aside from all that, Steven is polished and personable. He was a joy to work with and exceeded my expectations. In short, he is the finest personal chef I've ever used. I highly recommend Steven Auxter and A La Minute!

Steven is an outstanding Chef. His time cooking in the south can be tasted in his dishes from shrimp gumbo to crawfish etouffee. His classic dishes, veal piccatta, mushroom glazed pork chops show the depth of his passion and knowledge for cooking and you will feel it in every bite.

The event that I attended was flawless regarding the food. The first thing that struck me was the healthy menu. Steven is a master at preparing the freshest food to create really masterpieces. I am a cook, so I know what it takes to enliven a tasteless protein. Steven does his magic to spice and to surprise the lucky, lucky eater on every single bite from the starters to the last napkin wipe. He and his staff are also absolute masters of wine / food pairing. I do eat the talent of A La Minute every time that I can.

Since meeting Steven in 2006, I have had the privilege of having several meals prepared by him, including various personal and corporate dinner parties. His planning and preparation for the events was very organized and methodical, while his food was superb. During the informal events, where there was a chance for interaction with the guests, he was sociable and pleasant. His presence on the Mississippi Gulf Coast has been missed. Should the opportunity arise, I would hire Steven to cater another event.

FAQs

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I begin by making initial contact with the customer and find out a little more about what they are looking for, casual or high-end, multi-course or passed apps, etc. Then if the customer has something specific in mind for the menu, I can work from there, otherwise I will draw up some thoughts of my own, working off of their tastes and develop a customized menu for review. Once a decision is made, I can begin your made to order menu.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I graduated The Pennsylvania Institute of Culinary Arts in 2003 with an Associates Degree. After moving back to Toledo I worked around town and in 2007 became the Executive Chef of "Fifi's Tidbits & Spirits", a Toledo institution for many years. I moved to the Mississippi Gulf Coast after leaving Fifi's, and opened a large casual dining restaurant for a group of investors on the coast. Once established, I set out on my own and successfully ran a personal and private chef business for about a year, until family needs brought me back to Toledo. Now that the market has improved and the demand is there, I strive to provide my services to private customers again, this time in Northwest Ohio. I am ServSafe Certified and have a Food and Wine Pairing Certification from the Culinary Institute of America as well.
