FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
No, pricing can be varied in the masonry industry, it depends on the nature and extent of the work. Some projects are fairly simple while others such as restoration work are quite involved.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The typical process involves several stages, of course depending on the project it can be brief, or take some time. First we will come out and discuss the scope of work, which, involves doing a walk through, getting an idea of what the customer wants, looking at any blueprints that are available or even just discussing what they have in mind. This portion is the critical phase to understanding what the homeowner is looking for. We would then discuss options and give our advise to what the best approach is, what are the best materials to use for the desired outcome, and even give design ideas and suggestions. We would then send an informal email or give a estimate detailing the scope of work, any designs that we have come up with, recommendations and prices for the work. The next step is the contract signing. For the contract signing we would do one final walk through going over the scope of work, what will be done, if there are stages what will happen and when. During the contract signing a project start date will be set up and we will go from there.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I personally have over 20 years experience as a mason. I started off laboring for my father who was a white coat plasterer. I learned first hand a variety different mix designs, and eventually worked my way up as a labor foreman before I started my career as a mason. I served an apprenticeship and was trained by the International Masonry Institute. I apprenticed under a variety of different masons learning old world techniques and traditions in white coat plaster, decorative plaster installations, old world stone work, brick and stone pointing, historical restoration and cleaning of brick, stone and plaster and a variety of other installations and processes.
