FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
For transcription, I charge between $1-$4/minute of audio, which covers the number of speakers, complexity of subject matter, amount of times people talk at the same time, and any strong accents speakers may have. For most content writing, it's a simple $0.01-$0.03/word, depending on the complexity of what needs to be written and the amount of research I expect I'll need to do to ensure accuracy.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to ask questions to ensure we're on the same page and that I understand exactly what the client needs. After I understand what they need, I get to work and usually have a quick turnaround time.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
A friend referred me to a transcription company in 2005 because she thought my typing speed of over 100wpm was going to waste in my previous job, and I found I enjoyed the work so I kept doing it. I've also been a strong reader throughout my life and wanted to be a writer since I was young. I started ghostwriting around the same time as I started transcription because it was an easy way for me to engage in my dream.
