- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First 2 sessions are free. Reason behind this is the first session is a fitness assessment. Which includes forms, the contract, measurements, physical readings, and a detailed discussion about goals. If the client and I have the extra time and so choose then the free training session can go right after. This would be a 2-hour session total if they were combined. Other wise the free training session will be scheduled for another day. Once the client commits to a program it will be tailored towards their individual goals. The first month of any program will consist of lightweight high repetitions (endurance training), in order to increase the strength of the tendons and ligaments. Ignoring this could lead to injury. Once a moth of endurance training is complete then we would move into more heavy lifting to achieve the adaptations a client desires.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I spent 11 years enlisted in the Marine Corps. Duties which required me to train and maintain the physical readiness of the marines under my charge. I attended National Personal Trainer Institute (NPTI). A trade school that spends 6 months, 4 days a week, teaching anatomy, physiology, nutrition, biomechanics, and physical therapy in order to learn as well as understand how the human body works. We study material from the top personal trainer certification agencies such as NSCA, ACSM, and NASM. Once graduated we receive a diploma from NPTI as well the opportunity to take the Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) test through NASM. Which I have achieved. I attended and completed a graduate class through NPTI for Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES). Which I also have achieved a certification for through NASM. Currently I am still attending a graduate class with NPTI for Weight Loss Specialist & Fitness Nutrition Specialist.
