Introduction: Garyoke Time specializes in private parties and weddings with over ten years of experience. I will work with you well before your event date to understand your preferences and choose the right music for your event. We offers a fun mix of DJ, Music, Karaoke, tasteful and fun lighting, fog machine, and a great attitude at no extra charge. Service is provided for all of Hampton Roads. I play all genres of music and have state of the art equipment. My music selection is quite extensive. I have my business license with Virginia Beach Va. and also carry Liability Insurance. We always give our clients a written contract so there are no surprises. I am a proactive DJ. Which means I get involved with leading line dances and singing. I love seeing people laughing and having a good time during my events. It is very satisfying to take an average event and turn it into an awesome event that becomes memorable for years to come. We had the pleasure of seeing Gary in action at several events including a grand opening and our neighborhood block party. He did a fantastic job providing the music and even some karaoke. He is hands on and will perform with you if you feel a little nervous getting up to the microphone by yourself. People were having a great time dancing and singing.

“It was our 25th wedding anniversary, and I had family coming in from all corners of the world to help us celebrate! We wanted to have an exceptional time, so what could be more exceptional that a Luau with Karaoke?!! What a great decision on our part to chose Gary Stevenson for that job! "Garyoke Time" was the absolute highlight of our event!! Almost no one at my party had ever experienced Karaoke - to include ME!! -- but it was magical seeing folks who I always thought of as introverts step up to the microphone and belt out a song with total abandon and joy!! Some folks were great, some were funny, some were tragic (also funny!) -- but everyone had a blast, whether they actively sang, or just sat around enjoying the entertainment. For me, the best part of the night was when my beautiful but quiet sister stepped up to the microphone and sang with a group of other ladies "I am Woman!" They all laughed and blushed, and sang, and laughed some more!! What a great time! Gary's feel-good vibe gets everyone into the right mood to have a great time, and overcome their inhibitions. He encourages the singers, and patiently shows the shy ones how it works, so no one is embarrassed or made to feel exposed. The experienced singers have a huge selection of songs to choose from, so everyone is a winner with Garyoke Time!! Thanks, Gary, for taking our 25th wedding anniversary celebration up a notch, to exceptional!

Gary did a fantastic job for our combination retirement and 70 birthday party at our home. Gary arrived in plenty of time to have everything set up by the time everyone started to arrive for the party. He played the music that we wanted him to play, and the sound was perfect. Gary was extremely personable, and he made it easy for anyone to come to the microphone to participate in the singing – Garyoke style. I never did this before, but he made me feel very comfortable, laughing at myself with others enjoying my performance. He interacted with everyone in a way that made it seem that he had known them for years. Many at the party commented that he fit in very well, and was very enjoyable to talk to. Several also said he would be great for future special parties involving the family (for example, a large family picnic with over 100 participants). His video captured the day in a way that will give us many great memories of the day. Overall rating = 10 out of 10.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My pricing starts at $250.00 We take Visa, MasterCard and Checks. I provide DJ service, Music, Karaoke, Sound system, Songbooks with thousands of songs to choose from, Lighting, Monitor, Mixer, Fog, And a great attitude!
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First I like to get all the pertinent information that pertains to the clients event. The date, Hours, Address, Ages of the people that will be there, Special needs..Songs, Timing of songs, announcements, and payment arrangements. I collect a deposit which guarantees the client the date that he chooses. A receipt is sent to the clients phone. The balance is paid at the event. Once I get a deposit the client will get a contract that states everything that he has requested. I am also licensed and carry liability insurance.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been practicing my craft for over twelve years. I started out doing free shows and studying other DJ's for the first two years. I worked for a major DJ company for over three years.
