Introduction: I have been a full-time freelance writer and editor since 2014. I copy-edit manuscripts intended for high impact factor journals in scientific, technological and medical (STM) fields on a continuing basis. I also worked on a long-term project where I adapted more than 300 traditional folktales into simple language for young learners.
Prior to moving to full-time freelance work, I spent nearly 8 years managing projects and contributing to teams that developed high quality educational materials from syllabus design to bound product for Japan's largest private English language school. While there, I also wrote and edited original storybooks for young learners, developed and edited assessment materials, and assisted professionals in developing presentations, correspondence, and resumes.
I also spent 9 years in the United States Marine Corps. While serving in the Marines, I received several awards, including the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, and I was promoted to staff sergeant ahead of my peers. I worked in the military intelligence field, where I held a Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
Be assured that I am dependable, trustworthy and professional.
I thoroughly enjoy all aspects of of the editorial process.
When I managed textbook development projects, the teams I led cooperated to create materials that closely adhered to objectives and required few revisions at final proofing. Leading teams that worked well together and brought in products that always exceeded quality expectations was quite rewarding.
I also enjoy working on smaller projects, such as editing a single manuscript. I feel great satisfaction when I work with clients to bring their writing to the highest standards. Looking back to see how a manuscript evolved into its final form always brings me pleasure.
