FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
When I was growing up, two of my best friends were smart kids who struggled in school, for various reasons. Seeing how frustrating school could be for them has motivated me to be the kind of teacher and tutor who tries to learn as much as possible about a student's strengths and learning style, to help them shine!
- What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with a wide range of students over the past 15 years, but my specialty is upper elementary, middle and high school students who are struggling in reading and writing. Often I work with bright students who have difficulty approaching reading and writing work in an organized way. Often I work with students with diagnoses such as ADHD, dyslexia or autism spectrum disorders who haven't learned all they need to from the one-size-fits-all approach in their schools.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
The most important factors for successful tutoring are a good match between the teacher and student and a tutor who focuses on exactly what your student needs. Look for a tutor who puts your child at ease and is able to find out what she knows and what she needs to learn.
