FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
After graduating from Yale, I wasn't sure what I wanted to pursue professionally. I began working as a teacher and counselor at a summer program for students with special needs. It was the first "job," I'd ever had where I couldn't wait to get started in the morning and I couldn't stop thinking about in the evening. I wanted to do everything I could to understand, reach, and improve the students I was working with at the time. Midway through the program, I decided that anything that grips you to that degree is something that you should spend your life doing. My main mission and goal is to help other young people discover what THEIR passion is and help them to prepare for and ultimately succeed in pursuing that passion.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Focus on fit. One of my key pieces of advice when providing college admissions counseling is to focus on fit rather than ranking or the opinions and expectations of others. I believe it is the same, if not more important, when it comes to choosing a counselor, tutor, or advisor. Choose someone who you feel is going to work hard to understand YOUR goals and YOUR needs and who you believe will work tirelessly to help you reach them through your own hard work and dedication.
