FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
We are both kind of Tech geeks. We also like knowing things. That's a pretty good combination to ensure we keep on top of things. Though Meli has been to a few Nat Geo seminars and has taught a few Photography classes, so there are always new ways of learning that we are open to.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Oh man... Well, Meli has loved photography ever since she was a wee little one. I (Meli) remember a field trip I took to the Audobon Society when I was about 10 years old. I took a bunch of pictures of flowers and trees with a disposable camera, and when we developed it my Mom said that pictures without people weren't really worth it. I was so bummed! Though after many years, I realized both could be awesome. And they are. When I decided traditional college wasn't for me right out of high school, I took a few years to decide what I wanted to do and Photography was the obvious thing, so I went to school to learn every in and out I would potentially ever need, and started my business in 2011! I (Matt) got into Photography because it slows me down. It allows me the opportunity to appreciate my surroundings. I love shooting nature, but have also shot weddings and portraits for friends and family before. Marrying a Photographer made it an easy and logical decision to officially get into the business. We love being creative and meeting people together, so starting our own business doing something we love was a no-brainer.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
The easiest way to describe what we do is what we tell each client before a shoot, whether a couple, a family or a large group: Pretend we're not there. Unless we ask you to do something (which is pretty rare), then just go about your life being your happy selves. We'll get the best shots.
