Introduction: Not only do I have an MA in English literature so I have a lot of practice writing, but I have teaching experience in composition at both the undergrad and graduate levels. I was also an officer in the Air Force for 10 years. As an officer one must be adept at writing and speaking. I worked as a speech writer for the commander of the Space and Missile Systems Center, a three-star general, for whom I wrote all internal and external correspondence, speeches, commercials, and articles. Michelle helped me edit a few creative nonfiction pieces I was working for publication. Her thoughtful developmental editing helped me see flaws in he narrative arc, noticed details that were distracting to the story, and helped me see places that needed more complete explanation.
