- How did you get started doing this type of work?
It's a very peculiar situation. I was born in Cuba, but my parents migrated to Venezuela when I was still a baby. Dad was a renewed Art Director for major companies, somehow being a toddler, executive from Pepsicola convinced my father to play as a model for the soda ads and TV spots. So years passed by in a studio, I was then known by photographers and directors and I did a lot of photos and TV Spots. I loved the studio. As a grown up, I changed roles, and jumped from in front of the lens to behind the camera. So since I know, I have been in front or behind a camera. Photography is what I love to do, it's my way of life.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
I never trust the lower estimate, quality photographers value their work. Nor necessarily the highest bit is worth either. Check the portfolio, but don't trust 100% that they are capable of the work shown, it should be a reference only. Check reviews, I always go for the bads and goods, usually when a photographer has 15 excellent ( 5 Stars ) and you see 1 star bad review, I disregard the 1 star. Good photographers will ask questions, about what you need, what the pictures are for, they will always be looking to do an excellent job. Put everything in black and white, what is included and what is not. It is a good idea to google his name with the word photography, like in my case: Rolando de la Fuente Photography, check results. Never forget that some events in life can't be repeated, use a professional at a reasonable price, not a chip rinky tinky low budget guy or a priced diva, after all, there is no second chance to make a first impression.
