FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I am not the cheapest provider on Thumbtack, but I do offer the most value for the money. I will be beside you every step of the way until you have an online presence and résumé that will help you move into the next stage of your career. What you are paying for is my time (expensive) and my experience (priceless). Because Thumbtack is a price-driven marketplace, my fees are already substantially reduced.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
As is often the case, practical experience is just as valuable as industry certifications. Fortunately, I have both. I have hired people - hundreds of people - for many different roles in different industries and varying levels of seniority. I know how hiring managers think, and what they really want in a candidate. This experience cannot be replicated by any level of training or certifications. I also have numerous qualifications, including important third-party industry credentials. First, I am a Certified Professional Resume Writer (CPRW), which means that I had to pass a timed exam demonstrating mastery of multiple resume and cover letter structures, grammar, social media presence, presentation of key skill sets, and how to most effectively create an exceptional career marketing package. To complete the exam, I ultimately had to submit copies of my work to a review board to prove that I was able to produce a product deserving of the top credentials in the nation. Second, I am a member of the inaugural group to be certified as a Nationally Certified Online Profile Expert. This involves careful study of LinkedIn profiles, as well as the special portal offered by LinkedIn to recruiters and the LinkedIn search algorithms. It includes assignments, skill demonstrations, and an exam to earn the certification. Third, LinkedIn has recognized my skills as a LinkedIn ProFinder expert. This includes a review of my profile and qualifications to be presented as a professional in the areas of résumé writing and career coaching.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
It seems I have been helping people with their resumes my entire adult life. It started because I had a knack for it, and then I started receiving resumes from friends (and friends of friends) because I had progressed in my career to roles that would be at or above the level of the hiring manager for positions targeted by many candidates. I helped them tailor their career package to what a leader in their industry would want to see from a prospective hire. Since that time I have done research and joined professional industry organizations to expand beyond my practical, first-hand, working knowledge of the hiring process and also appreciate industry norms for resumes, cover letters, and social media profiles. That brings me to today, where I leverage my skills to help clients showcase their best selves in their resume package and secure the interview that just might lead to the job of their dreams!
