Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: Tutoring I offer tutoring for many subjects and all grades pre-kindergarten through college. Each student requires a different plan. I provide homework assistance, help with project completion, coaching for Florida Virtual School courses, remediation for difficult subjects and gifted enrichment. Communication with parents and teachers help to round out the program of study for each client. I provide individualized learning goals for each client based on their needs. Test Preparation I provide preparation for all standardized tests: SAT, ACT, FCAT, Stanford, ITBS. The program provides test strategy and practice along with remediation in areas of difficulty. For example, a student struggling with Geometry questions on the ACT will have those skills reviewed. The program is individualized according to the clients' needs and the tutors' observations and practice test results. Coaching, Study Skills, Organizational Skills This aspect of my program is hard to find anywhere else. I provide support for students who are not struggling academically but who are struggling with turning in homework, keeping track of tests, completing work in a timely manner or completing online course work. My greatest job is to become an academic coach and facilitator for my clients!!!

"My high school son has been seeing Jennifer for a while and he is very comfortable with her which is great! She is very responsive and accommodating as well. Her rates are very reasonable and she's done a great job for us!"

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

My standard hourly charge is $35 and hour. If multiple hours are needed each week, I offer a decreased hourly fee to be discussed when appointments are made. While I understand illness, and last minute issues, I appreciate a 24 hour cancellation.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have degrees in both Education and English. In addition to tutoring reading, math and writing, I have also worked closely with a cognitive psychologist to train to work with students with ADHD and other attention and anxiety disorders. I have extensive experience with students who are currently working with an IEP or 504 plan.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I graduated in 1995 with my education degree. Due to a hiring freeze, I sought a job at a before and after school program for Girls. I wrote and instituted a Science and Math curriculum for the after school program. After 8 months, I began teaching and taught for 9 years in elementary and middle schools. After the birth of my second child, I became a stay at home mom while still tutoring as a very part time job. Six years ago, I partnered with a cognitive psychologist to open a tutoring business. Our emphasis was on students who could benefit form both tutoring and cognitive training for ADHD and other attention and anxiety disorders. My partner moved on but I decided to continue with our mission to help kids with their academics, study skills, and achievement testing. I love the one on one aspect of my work.
