These photographers are amazing. They were professional throughout the entire process, responding quickly to emails and texts, accommodating packages for a wedding that wasn't standard, and delivering the photos well before the 2 week deadline they gave. The quality and quantity of the photos I received exceeded all of my expectations. I will definitely be using Blue Iris Photography again in the future!

In a sea of photographers, Joshua O'Donnell stands above the others who are just in it for the payday. Josh is truly a good guy and it shows in the way he takes tremendous pride in his work and his customers. He is timely, affordable, and takes amazing photos! Oh, and did I mention how good he is with kids too?! Seriously, if you are considering business marketing, wedding pictures, action shots, or anything else that can be captured with a lense, I highly recommend Joshua O'Donnell Photography!

Shiloh came to the training center and spent the better part of two days catching the Sitka Firefighters training. She took great action photos of the evolutions and followed it up with awesome stills of our gear. She makes ordinary run of the mill stuff look amazing. You would be hard pressed to find a better photographer. We have arranged to have her be the photographer for the Alaska Fire Conference in Sitka the September

O'Hara has shared her talents by photographing various YWCA Alaska events. Beyond her excellent technical photography skills, she is able to create a special dynamic between herself and whomever she photographs so that she is able to genuinely capture them in that moment. I've witnessed her making even the shyest of subjects laugh out loud and always by the end of the shoot, everyone is smiling. She is efficient and effective, and manages to produce high-quality photos even in venues with difficult lighting or limited space. She is able to capture expressions, distinct feelings, and memorable moments that we often miss with the naked eye. O'Hara is a pleasure to work with; she is professional, highly dependable, and very personable. She is an asset to the YWCA and I would highly recommend her for any kind of photography needs.

We had Marilyn take our engagement photos, so amazing, she really captured who we are as a family, and what we love about life. She also did the newborn photos of our son, one photo of him, in the guitar case, we got enlarged to a 20x40 canvas print it was so excellent! We totally recommend her studio. Book an appointment. You will be happily surprised at the results and the individual attention for natural or artsy poses she gives you during a shoot!

    About

I am an Anchorage-based portrait/event/landscape photographer. I am self-taught and have gained most of my photographic experience on travels overseas. While I do love travel and landscape photography, I am also drawn to capturing newborns, children and families or couples with natural portraits in relaxed environments. I would consider my approach more photojournalistic rather than posed and cliche. My reasonable pricing is flexible and solely based on the needs of the client.

    About

Photography is about approach. Standing in front of the camera can leave you feeling like are on the spot to perform. I help neutralize this by letting my subjects be who they are through a process of collaboration and experimentation. Once they have found their inner peace so to speak the result is a honest image that conveys the person's character in a given space. Every assignment brings a new set of challenges and opportunities. I love growth through experiences because it gives me ability to create and innovate.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost for a photographer for a wedding?

Finding the right wedding photographer can make a big difference for your ceremony. Nationally, the average wedding photographer’s price ranges from $800 to $1,000, but costs can be much higher in areas like Chicago, New York or Los Angeles where some couples spend $2,000 to $5,000 or more for the photographer they want. Factors that can affect your wedding photographer prices include the photographer’s reputation and experience. Heavy hitters can command top rates, especially during wedding-season weekends. Day of the week also affects your cost. You may get a $200 discount on wedding photographer prices if you get married on a Friday in November rather than a Saturday in June. Time onsite is also an important cost factor. Hiring a photographer to snap photos from the moment you wake up until after last call at the reception is going to cost more than five hours of pictures during the day. Multiple photographers, special lighting, and videography will also increase your costs. Ultimately you want to find someone who has a style you love and can provide the number of edited shots you want for a price you can handle. Learn more about hiring a wedding photographer.
