I used to go to high school with Mr. May. We used to make music together often. Years much later, he exclaimed to me that he was DJ’ing now and I was of course going to allow him the opportunity to work one of my events or even a birthday.
My brother’s homecoming was that following summer, so this definitely be the perfect chance. I figured that he was just starting out, so this would be a good start and I could critique or just help where needed if asked- since this was a family setting having a low pressure atmosphere.
I was flabbergasted! Mr. May showed up on time (aka: hours early) to set up everything. He even added his own touch of decorations and small details with his information without noticeably ‘advertising’. This man even had enough time to ask if we needed help setting up.
By the time the party started, everybody was in the mood to have fun. He had great intro/pre-party music with great sequences from start to finish. There weren’t many request due to the fact that the music was very diverse and fitting; although, there were a few ‘funny song’ requests towards the latter of the evening which he transitioned into perfectly. He even had my grandmother up grooving!
All in all, his performance, professionalism and commitment was outstanding. I’m sure you don’t have to guess I will be paying him for future events. To be honest, if personal road trip DJ’s was a thing, he’d be in my passenger seat every trip controlling the AUX!
