James responded to my request within a few hours. He came and surveyed the job and my requirements the next day. We set a date to do the work. He had a change in his schedule and did the work sooner. Excellent communication. Price seemed reasonable though I did not get any other quotes. I plan to use Southern Grounds again for my pruning needs.

James and his crew pleasantly surprised me! The quote I was given for the job was MUCH cheaper than another one I received for the same area (the other person wanted to charge me almost 3xs as much as James did-mainly for outsourcing the work). Oh and also, unlike the other crew, James actually sent me a professional quote. The other company wanted to have a verbal agreement and only texted me a breakdown after I asked several times how the price was determined. James was here the entire time and actually working (not just standing and pointing). My front yard use to be an eye sore with brown patchy grass. Now I am so happy to go outside and see what James and his crew have done. I cannot wait to host events in the summer now and have folks see my front yard. Thank you James for your patience with me (I had a lot of questions throughout haha and he always answered right away), and for beautifying our home :)

James went the extra mile by locating buried sprinkler heads and showing me how to program the system. He made some good suggestions on how to optimize the sprinkler by capping off some heads to redirect water to the yard. he was also able to get a better deal on shrubs that work better than the ones I had originally chosen. I'm very satisfied with their work and will enjoy a nice lawn and improved curb appeal.

Southern Grounds did a great job with the sod installation around my new pool. They gave me a very competitive quote in writing and did not go over the quote. They had to work around the weather but got the installation done in a timely fashion and left a clean job site. Overall very pleased it looks great

Thumbtack would only allow me to rate James and his crew on 3/5 categories. Given the option I would have graded them top knotch on all 5. The 3 I chose were -) professionalism- from my first inquiry Up to the final piece of was laid James was right there with me. He wasn’t pushy or overbearing we figured out how much sod would be needed and James took it from there. He contacted several sod farms to weight or options. Once I decked the exact grass I wanted James called his guys and found the best prices and lead dates for my particular situation. 2) his responsiveness was next level. Doing a major overhaul/renovation in our front yard is a big deal and can be stressful. James squelched all feeling of doubt by walking me through the process. Talking how they would approach my land specifically. Due to rain my sod got pushed back a week. I never has to track down the sod farm. Never had to poke and prod about when it might be ready. James already knew and would relay the info to me as soon as he caught wind of it. He and his crew were at the house ready to rock by 7am. By the time the sod farm delivered the sod, James and his Guys already had everything prepped and ready for installation. They all cool dudes, more than willing to field requests and meet them (if possible). After sodding my entire front yard we still had a pallet of sod remaining and some fill dirt. Instead of calling it a day they came and asked if the could us those materials on my other lawn that has drainage issues and needed some helps Their work was fantastic and punctual. But the quality of service given by James was next level. His willingness to constantly keep me up to date and weigh different options along the way was invaluable. When the project was complete and paid for, I got a text from James offering some advice for caring for the sod. I joked with him that he’s already been paid… this is the part where he supposed to throw me to the wind and wish me the best of luck. He responded by saying that’s just how he operates- continuing to take care of customers even when there’s nothing left for him to get out of it. Great guy, great crew. I’ll continue to populate this review with updated photos as the lawn progresses 3)
