FAQs

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I started creative writing as early as I can recall and am fortunate enough to have had a high school teacher take note of my passions. She planted my next semester's schedule in a literary arts magazine. After 2 years, I became Feature Editor and Content Director. After graduating with Quill and Scroll honors (a national literary honors society), I attended the University of Alabama where I earned a bachelor's in public relations. During my time at UA, I worked on the Corolla staff producing features and editing large amounts of content for the yearbook and newspaper. After college, I chose to stay at home with my newborn son, and launched TheMomJob.net to keep my writing skills fresh. The tagline for the site at that time was "the hardest job you'll ever do that'll never make your resume". The ironic part is that after 3 years of writing on my site, I began to get offers to produce content for other sites. TheMomJob.net had officially made my resume and I upgraded to a larger site - HushAmanda.com. Over the next few years I worked with many local and national publications, in both print and online media. Published works include articles with b-Metro Magazine, RSVP Magazine, al.com, and BirminghamMommy.com. After 4 years of staying home with my children and writing part-time, I re-entered the 8-5 workforce with a career in real estate. While continuing to write during my spare time, I earned my Alabama Real Estate Salesperson License in 2014. I currently stretch my creative muscle for a real estate development and property management firm based out of Birmingham, Alabama doing administrative support which frequently includes creating original content and marketing materials, website maintenance, and press releases. I am actively pursuing my dream of writing full-time.

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Writing is not for everyone. If you don't have a knack for it, this is a task best left for a professional.
