English and writing are not my strengths and I had multiple projects that I needed assistance with both as a professional and a student. Ingram’s Professional Resumes not only did an outstanding job proof reading my work but, took the time to educate and coach me through the process. The quality of work she presents is excellent. For the reasonable rates you will not find a better professional, I guarantee!

Kala helped me to make some changes to a research paper that I had written for an internship that we both participated in two years ago through my school's writing center. She read through my paper and gave me some suggestions, such as beginning my paper with a more attention-grabbing introduction, or "hook." She Also pointed out some grammar errors that I had made. Kala was very considerate of my feelings when she offered suggestions, which I appreciated, but she was also honest. The only issue that I had with our session was that I wish we'd had more time to look over my paper together. We had to fit our session into one of our class periods, so the peer editing process felt somewhat rushed. However, I was still very pleased with the way my session with Kala went, and I would definitely work with her again.

Jan is phenomenal at presenting an individual in a professional, intelligent manner that carries a message of unique appeal to managers looking to hire qualified individuals. Jan is exceptional at developing a resume that will drive interest and create a lasting impression. She helped me put my past experience and training on paper in a way that receives praise at every turn. Furthermore, her experience in preparing an individual for an interview is far above what I expected. Not only did I receive the job offer that Jan helped me prepare for, but I was also told that my interview was especially impressive. She helped me understand what employers are looking for in individuals during a job interview. I feel this gave me an unfair advantage and an edge on my competition; something I didn't mind having knowing there were other qualified candidates. Additionally, she helped me prepare a Powerpoint presentation that received a great deal of positive feedback from the leaders at my company. After the interview, Jan also helped me write several thank you notes to solidify my interest in the job in a way that was creative and thoughtful. I attribute that to Jan's expertise and prowess in the recruiting field. I couldn't be more grateful.

Writing and design are integral components to the promotion of any business, product, person, website, or message. They both serve the same purpose: to communicate and sell to an audience. Yet, most people can only do one of these things, or you will end up having to shell out loads of cash to hire an advertising firm that can both write and design. If you want to achieve all of this without breaking the bank, then you have found the right person! When the two forums of writing and design intersect, the success rate of the company, person, or product skyrockets. They compliment each other in unique ways, which strengthens the overall message or brand. In fact, this is what separates images or ads from brands. It is the ultimate goal of "cohesion" when communicating a brand that makes advertising agencies profitable in the first place. You will find all of that here, in just one person. I have industry experience in television commercials, feature film, sporting events and radio, political ads, print, logo design, tag lines, catch phrases, and campaigns (to name a few). I am extremely creative and do not have to be given specific instructions or details in order to produce quality work. In other words, many people do not know what they even want or may only know qualities they want to exhibit. I will then come up with several examples or options to pitch to the client. I will not rest until you are happy. I am creative. I have experience in everything from sports to comedic writing. I have a degree in art and cinema-television, with emphasis on copyright law, writing, and design. My job is not finished until you are not only satisfied but also enthusiastic!

I can edit your writing submissions, write submissions, resumes, and correct your papers. I'm very skilled and confident in my writing abilities. Any assistance you may need, I provide.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you hire a good grant writer?

Grants are available to nonprofit organizations, for-profit businesses that qualify for government grants, and individuals who qualify for foundation or government grants. Hiring a good grant writer can help you gain funding in your chosen field. According to the American Grant Writers’ Association, grant writers can help you research potential grant opportunities; write grant proposals, create budgets, and build budget narratives; review written materials before you submit; prepare a business plan; analyze your organization for grant competitive qualities; prepare research grants; help with 501(c)(3) applications for nonprofits; and more. Investing in the right grant writer could result in a financial win for your organization. Generally no licenses or certificates are required to be a good grant writer, but you may want to find a grant writer who has been certified (not just received a certificate of completion) by a reputable organization such as the Grant Professionals Certification Institute. Qualities to look for in a good grant writer include:

    • Proven success writing winning grants, especially in your target area.
    • Strong writing skills.
    • Strong math skills and demonstrated proficiency with budgeting.
    • Careful attention to detail — brilliant grant proposals may be rejected just for formatting errors, so you want someone who follows instructions explicitly.
    • Expertise in your target area.
    • Punctuality and good communication skills.

How much does a grant writer cost?

Hiring a grant writer can give you a competitive edge when applying for financial grants for your business or nonprofit organization, or as an individual. The cost to hire a grant writer can vary depending on their academic background, areas of expertise, previous grant writing success and years of experience. According to the Grant Professionals Association, grant writers should be paid hourly or by flat fee. It is unethical for a grant writer to accept a commission or percentage compensation of grant monies received. They can, however, be awarded bonuses in line with the hiring company’s prevailing practices. Here are some examples of average grant writing fees:

    • Hourly rate for grant writers with less experience or fewer grants awarded: $25-$35 per hour.
    • Hourly rate for grant writers with some degree of success: $35-$75 per hour.
    • Hourly rate for grant writers with proven success winning large grants: $75-$150 or more per hour.
    • For a smaller grant, the writer may charge a flat fee of $200-$500 for preparation and submission.

Pricing may also vary based on the complexity of the grant application. A federal grant that requires pages of research, budgets and a business plan may take more than 30 hours to prepare. For a high-level grant writer who charges $100 per hour, this means $3,000 or more in grant writing fees.

Most grant writers will provide you with a total cost estimate before agreeing to the work. You may be required to pay a deposit up front, or the grant writer may work from a retainer. Often, seasoned grant writers pay for themselves in the long run by writing successful grants.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
