Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: Refinish your existing cabinets, and save thousands over replace or reface (kitchens - as low as $1,500). We do strip and stain/lacquer (painted and glazed). We chemically strip, wash and scrub, and then sand -- all prior to staining. We never paint or finish over the old one; the finish won't adhere to the old worn surface and will chip and peel. By stripping and sanding, we start off with a new surface -- anything is possible. We are one of the few left that still offer a true refinishing, not just painted over and "fauxed" to look like wood. Call around, look on the web, or call local wood shops (mention us; they know our work), and you will see that refinishing is an art that requires many years of experience. Our finishes can be as simple as one color or as complex as distressed/glazed, hand-rubbed lacquer. Of course, we finish new cabinets as well. You can buy them unfinished (you may save thousands), and of course, we do painted ones as well (industrial oils/primers) with a fine, sprayed finish. We are a small, veteran-owned (Desert Storm) husband-and-wife company (no employees) and have been in business in the East Valley for the last 18 yrs. We have three children and have lived in this area forever (Rose is a native, and I've been living here for 25 yrs.). We have many very satisfied customers (and a lot of new friends) and can provide excellent references, from designers to woodworking professionals to contractors, homeowners, paint stores, realtors, etc., that have known us for years. Please visit our website. As you can see, we have been doing this for a while. If you notice, we are not afraid of close -up photos unlike our competition, and we always have new pictures and not the same two cabinet jobs for the last few years. We are busy now and have been, even through this current economic mess, so allow some time for scheduling/samples. We match your desired color on a similar door prior to starting, establish a good time to do the skins (boxes), and can have them up in as little as 6-10 days (if your home is larger with custom sanding/staining, adding baths, laundry, etc., please wait a little longer). Please remember that we are just two (mom and pop), so the end result is always above what you expect and may take a little time. We usually remove cabinet doors and drawers and do them off site in the shop. You don't even have to remove the stuff; we can work around it. All masking is removed daily. We also install handles, and we offer upgrades, like crown molding, posts and trim, sliding shelves, wainscot, corabels, etc. We custom match all stain, and no, they don't sell it at Home Depot/Lowes (sorry). We also finish new doors and trim (we do excellent Alder finishes), windows (Pella rollouts), front door systems, stair rails, etc. Prices vary from color, glaze, detail in wood, and wood-type, but even with stripping to bare wood, we are the same, if not lower, than our competitors. We prefer East Valley, Scottsdale, N. Scottsdale, Queen Creek, Mesa, and Gilbert, but work valleywide. Please e-mail us a rough idea on what you want, or call and speak with Walt or Rose, and we will be happy to give you more info. You choose the color(s) from magazines, home improvement stores, or from the web. It is best to pick the same wood-type (oak and maple) of color sample. We will provide samples, not yours, prior to even starting. All our stains and glazes are custom mixed and applied. Better than cabinet shop finishes or painted/stain, this is the old-fashioned way, involves more labor, and time-consuming, but well worth it. Browse our pictures and drop us an e-mail. We can also help with paint/design or rehab your income properties.

I found Fantastic Finishes through a Facebook page and thought it would be good to hire small/family-owned/local. We selected Walt and Rose to replace 4 cabinet doors and everything went smoothly, great communication, etc until the install. They arrived on 3/7 and found out they mis-measured the door openings. They were off on height and width. Not a big deal as I knew they would reorder and come back with the corrected doors within 10-14 days. Our last correspondence was on 3/17 and since that time I've emailed multiple times, sent a text message and left voicemails. I understand this is a small job, but they have a 50% deposit. At this point, I'd like my deposit back.

They were very accessible. Always promptly answering their phones and the refinishing project of our cabinets turned out better than I thought it would. Absolutely beautiful. Very satisfied and would highly recommend

FAQs

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

When looking to refinish your cabinets , it's best to strip the wood bare and start over - most other companies offer a "Painted / Glazed" finish that only provides a bandaid and is only as good as the surface it is over. Plus it also looks painted as compared to a true stained and lacquer look. Over time your cabinets will chip and peel. Research it yourself most qualified woodworkers will agree.
