My DUI was extremely complicated and took a huge toll on my life. I had never been in trouble with the law and was very confused and scared of my charges I was facing. After speaking with Matt Hayes Law PLC, he was able to break things down in a way I can understand and give me a sense of hope for my case. If you are looking for someone who is looking for your best interest and willing to actually listen to your needs and worries during a difficult situation this is the right attorney for you. He also provides you his contact information where he can be reached at all times unlike some attorneys who you’ll leave a voicemail for and never get a return phone call or sometimes one or two days which can be very frustrating. Overall I would say he is a great attorney, very knowledgable and I would highly recommend to family and friends.

After costs incurred after my mother suffered from cancer, I was forced to declare bankruptcy in 2014. Having no legal experiences up until that point, I contacted MyAZLawyers. (I should mention out of the gate that this website really doesn’t do them justice and looks sketchy—they need a better web developer!) At any rate, the office staff and the attorneys are professional, thorough, and really, really know their stuff. They are busy people—but they’re on your side from the beginning. It is an absolute pleasure working with this law firm all the way from the administrative staff, to the legal assistants, to the attorneys themselves. I truly never expected to be taken care and to have my case handled the way it was. Recently (going on two years since my case/discharge), I received a call (which I now know to be a scam) from an organization claiming I had defrauded a financial institution, committed breach of contract, and committed theft by deception –referring to a 2010 payday loan application online (I’ve never taken out a payday loan in my life). This organization assured me that my case was going to court and that I was going to be served and that a formal complaint had been filed. Terrified, I contacted my attorney (Morgan McCain)—and he not only put my mind at ease immediately—but actually ended up calling said company to gather information about the “pending litigation” and, in a beautifully professional manner, ended up indirectly proving to me that they were a scam and that the charges and debt they referenced were not legitimate at all. (Think end-of-your-life mentality for 24-48 hours transforming into almost crying-laughing, joy, and immeasurable relief listening to the exchange between ultra-savvy and professional lawyer and fraudulent/unethical company.) It was something they likely deal with daily, but to me it was nothing short of superman coming in to save the day. Even after my bankruptcy was discharged, to them I was still a client and they took care of me. If you have an issue, go see these folks. (Especially recommend Morgan McCain if you get any say in the matter.) James K 12/2/2016

I had a great experience using this law firm for my criminal charges. I was wrongfully charged with domestic violence. I was scared and didn’t know what to do. I talked with a bunch of lawyers and felt the best about the Hogle law firm. I had my charges dismissed and I’m so glad I took the time and went with my gut on hiring them.

My first DUI was a scary situation - I was considered Super Extreme and I had a crash. Thankfully the other person was not hurt badly. My medical problems were scary, but I was thankful to be alive. I didn't want to ask anyone for lawyer recommendations because I didn't want people to know I did this. I found several attorneys on Thumbtack and read rates and reviews. I called Michael Pittman because he said DUI was his specialty and his office was near me. He returned my call right away (within an hour) and assured me that we would work on this together to help me get the best possible outcome. His prices are reasonable and affordable. He offers a payment plan as well as a discount if you are able to pay in full. He explained the whole process for court and for the MVD. I could hear the confidence in his voice. He met with me at the location of my choice and after meeting him I felt comfortable and safe. He understands the emotional toll this takes on us. He assured my spouse that he would answer questions for both of us. I turned everything over to him and only had to appear in court one time. This helped with my job - I did not have to take off work multiple times. He did all of the research necessary to ensure I my rights had not been violated. He called or texted me every week with updates. He consulted with me about negotiations he was making with the prosecutors and gave me the option to accept each term. Every time I received something in the mail I would send him a scan of the letters and he would explain what they meant the case. He fought hard for the least amount of punishment possible (jail time, classes, and fines). The court appearance easy because Mr. Pittman prepared me for all of it. I knew what to expect at every turn. He negotiated very well on my behalf. I broke the law - there is only so much that can be forgiven, but I know that I was treated fairly and with dignity. I am working through the sentencing requirements now and Mr. Pittman still answers any question that I have. He will bring you comfort during this difficult time and help you get through it by listening and working on your behalf. He is smart, well versed in these laws, and best of all, he is compassionate and kind.

I have utilized Modern Law and Billie Tarascio to consult with regarding a child support modification. I wish I had known her when I went through my divorce several years ago. They truly are a Modern law firm. They really care about their clients. I love that they offer several ways to work with them. Hourly, Flat Fee and legal document preparation services. Modern Law offers their clients as much free information as it can. They have a wonderful newsletter that they send out with very helpful information about issues that you need to think about in your divorce. She also does webinars on pertinent topics. The staff there is also very helpful and quick to respond. I highly recommend this caring committed law firm that truly has the best interest of your family. I had two attorneys make mistakes in my divorce that cost me over $75,000 so make the right choice and hire Modern Law.

Anthony was extremely knowledgeable in my experience in dealing with him. He gave sound legal advice at a time when I needed it the most. He was professional, direct and clear in the way he helped me. You never hope to NEED an attorney, however if the need did arise to require Anthony's services again, I would not hesitate to ask him. I would highly recommend him to anyone.

My experience with Jilyane Acevedo, at Stromfors Law, was a "Breath of Fresh Air". I had worked with two other Attorneys on my extremely High Conflict Custody case. I recognized that I was not being represented by either of those Attorneys, in a manner that would lead to success. I was referred by a good friend, to Stromfors Law Office, and assured that I would not be disappointed. I scheduled a Consultation with Jilyane and was immediately impressed with her Responsiveness. She actually cared about my concerns. The Professionalism, Work Quality, and Punctuality came as a pleasant shock! Finally, I had an Attorney that promptly addressed my concerns, and I didn't have to worry about Court Documents being submitted accurately and on time. Jilyane was well prepared for Court, and it was evident! Yes, Attorney Fees are expensive, but the value of dollars spent at Stromfors Law Office were, over and above by at least double, the value of the other Attorneys, in who, I had previously placed my trust. I will be forever grateful that I followed my friends advice and contacted Stromfors Law Office.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does an immigration attorney do?

Immigration lawyers help their clients through all phases of the immigration process. Experts on immigration law, they are legally qualified to represent U.S. citizens, permanent residents or undocumented immigrants. Immigration lawyers also provide assistance to visitors here on student, work or travel visas, and can represent clients who may have an expired visa or who have overstayed their visa.

You can hire an immigration lawyer to assist you with petitioning for renewing a permanent resident or green card, navigating the naturalization process, submitting an employee-based petition for a work visa, filing a petition for a family member, or representing you or a loved one who is facing detention or deportation, as well as replacing, extending or changing a current visa, green card or work permit. The immigration process is highly complex, with multiple hearings, paperwork and requirements. Hiring a legal expert to represent you can help you make your best effort in the process. When researching immigration lawyers, it is very important to verify their qualifications and find a reputable attorney. Read reviews and verify that the immigration lawyer is licensed by your state before paying any fees.

How do you find a good real estate lawyer?

If buying or selling property feels overwhelming and the thought of finding a good real estate lawyer seems daunting, you’re in luck. There are some simple steps to follow for finding a trustworthy, affordable real estate lawyer to help with your property and legal needs.

  • Determine what kind of real estate lawyer you need. Many states require a real estate attorney to handle sale closing documents. For more complex matters such as a real estate deal gone awry or foreclosure, you’ll want to find an attorney who has successfully handled cases like yours.
  • Look for online reviews of real estate lawyers in your area. Verify that they have proven experience closing or winning cases like yours and that they are in good standing with the state bar association.
  • Choose two or three lawyers to interview. Many offer a free consultation to learn about your case and provide information about rates. For standard real estate closing services, in-depth interviewing might not be necessary.
  • Ask about their rates and whether they charge by the hour or provide services for a flat fee. Ask whether a retainer is required, and what the total bill should be for a case like yours.
  • Ask for a write-up of the services that will be covered by the projected costs.
  • Make sure you like the real estate agent and they treat you with respect. Confirm whether they or another person will be working on your case and make sure you’re comfortable with all members of their team.
  • Pay the retainer and hire your lawyer.

What is a personal injury lawyer?

A personal injury lawyer fights on your behalf if you’ve been injured physically, psychologically, economically or in reputation. This injury may be the result of neglect or malicious intent of another person, or it could be at the hands of a business, government or other entity. Personal injury lawyers specialize in tort law, which is the law of civil wrongs like car accidents, company wrongdoing, unlawful imprisonment and more.

To become qualified to be a personal injury lawyer in the United States, a person must earn a bachelor’s degree, followed by a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from a law school. Most states then require the person to pass the bar exam to become licensed to practice law. Unlike many attorneys who require a retainer, personal injury lawyers often work on contingency fees. This means that in lieu of payment upfront, they receive an agreed-upon percentage of the settlement in case of a win.

What does a real estate lawyer do?

A real estate lawyer represents their client’s best interest in all matters related to the sale, purchase and ownership of real estate. They are experts in real estate law. In states that require a real estate lawyer to close home sales, the lawyer must review and finalize all documents before the deal can be legally completed. Real estate lawyers also help clients legally protect their rights when entering, exiting or renegotiating a real estate deal. You can hire a real estate lawyer as an individual or as a business. A real estate lawyer can help with negotiation, addressing mortgage fraud, managing foreclosures and bankruptcy, transfers of titles and deeds, property ownership disputes, zoning issues, creating a co-ownership contract for joint purchase of a property, and much more. Real estate lawyers can also protect you from issues that result when a known problem was not properly disclosed by the previous owner. Overall, real estate lawyers are an added cost when it comes to buying and selling property, but they also ensure your best interests are met, and that you and the people you are doing business with comply with the law.

What should you look for in a personal injury lawyer?

A personal injury lawyer will advocate for your legal rights if you’ve been hurt in an accident at work or in daily life, have suffered from medical malpractice, or are struggling to have your insurance carrier cover your needs. It may be helpful to talk with two or three lawyers before selecting one. When looking for a personal injury lawyer, research their reviews and make sure former clients have had good experiences with them. Next, make sure the personal injury lawyer has experience and proven success winning cases similar to yours. Confirm that the lawyer is licensed to provide services in your state. When you find a qualified personal injury lawyer with whom you want to work, freely discuss payment and fees before any work begins. Most lawyers offer a free consultation to learn what your case is about and explain their rates. Personal injury attorneys typically receive a percentage of your settlement (called a contingency fee), so they are paid after the trial or case is complete. Keep in mind that some attorneys have fees that you must pay even if you don’t win your trial. It’s important to understand these details before work begins so you don’t have any unhappy surprises later. Lastly, it’s wise to choose a personal injury lawyer that you have confidence in and with whom you can communicate openly and honestly.
