Sue was outstanding! Sue visited prior to pet sitting to meet the cats and familiarize herself with their routine. During our trip, she sent us numerous status updates via text. She was easy to get ahold throughout the entire process. We will definitely use her again!

K&S have watched our 2 large dogs while we away, on more than one occasion. They are amazing People!!! Our puppies were cared for and played with multiple times a day. Our families standing joke is, that our puppies love Karen and Steve more than they love us! Needless to say we never have to worry when they are in the care of K&S Pet sitting!!

I've used Two Dogs Dancing for overnight stays at my home with my pack of very boisterous corgis, Pom and rat terrier and one horse. We have an older corgi with a brain tumor and are not comfortable leaving him unattended for extended periods of time. This summer we scheduled a 10 day over seas vacation. We were able to enjoy our vacation knowing that all our pets would be well care for. We received daily updates and pictures. All our pets were properly pampered while we were gone including our horse, who doesn't understand why I don't provide the yummy carrots like Mary does. Our dogs are over joyed when they see Mary and Brandy outside of pet sitting. Our home was clean and in great condition when we returned and we were pleasantly surprised by a plate of freshly baked cookies.

My contact was with Lynda McHugh, she was everything I wanted in a substitute caregiver to my Border Collie. She walked him, feed him, played games and brushed him. He was treated like a family member. When we went on a vacation it was and obvious choice to have him stay with her. He had his own bowls, toys and play area. She even went beyond the normal asking and made him a booklet telling what he did while we were gone(with pictures). It's in my opinion that she is the best person to have take care of your pet if you want the best. Thank you Loreen Geraghty

Rise and Shine is the absolutely best for pet sitting. They take such good care of my two dogs when I travel. They not only make sure the dogs have food and water, but they play and cuddle, take walks (even helping my bigger pooch with his walking manners!), and check on the house. I have great peace of mind when I'm away knowing my dogs are in such loving hands.

It is with pleasure that I offer this recommendation for Julie Daly and her pet sitting service. I was in (desperate) need of someone who is dependable, compassionate, and gentle, and also someone who could provide the extra attention needed for a dog that struggles with separation anxiety. Julie came to my rescue and I consider myself very lucky to have found her. Although I have known Julie for only a few months, she has lovingly watched my anxiety-ridden boy multiple times a week so I could run daily errands, go to dinner or a movie with friends and travel out-of-town to be with my gravely ill father. She is a godsend. Her easy manner was a good match for my nervous Beagle and it is such a relief to know someone so caring and calm is with him. Since meeting Julie, I have peace of mind whenever I leave whether it is for a few hours or for two weeks. Julie is a wonderful individual who conducts herself in a friendly and professional manner. She is trustworthy and very generous of her time and most importantly, gentle with my anxious dog. I can tell she genuinely enjoys taking care of animals and feels deeply responsible for their well-being. I appreciate that Julie takes the time to let my dog warm up to her and I love seeing how well he responds to her. Although it's always difficult to leave our pets, knowing that Julie will be taking care of my boy gives me piece of mind. It is without hesitation that I highly recommend Julie to anyone who is looking for a pet sitter who is kind, trustworthy, responsible and compassionate.

I hired Serena to house and dog sit while I was in Pittsburgh watching over my elderly mom. I have two small dogs and a cat so it was important to me to have someone that loves animals and is comfortable giving them love and attention. She was great with them, they even miss her if that's possible;-). She also took great care of my house, I plan to use her again anytime I need to travel. She also helped to organize my closet while I was gone, what a special treat to come home and have everything sorted by color, given she has a retail background it didn't surprise me that she would do such a great job. Hire this girl!!

I go out of my way to help ensure the animals are well taken care of, above and beyond.

    About

When people first get meet me I often get told "I have never met anyone like you before". This is because at first glance I appear as your average 19 year old boy. The more you spend real face-to-face time with me, almost everyone picks up on a very genuine, real vibe. For this reason I am not as social with my peers. It is hard to find legitimate, good-hearted people in this world. I have found my surrounding student body is typically caught up in their own lives, out for themselves, and/or don't see the big picture in life. I don't waste my time with them, instead I practice patience in finding people willing to put the same into relationships for the same good reasons as I. So, I have maybe a handful of actual friends, I have my family, and a lot of free time to spend caring for the sweet innocent souls of our beloved pets. You will have trouble finding someone with my loyalty and genuine heart.

I'm skilled in both digital and traditional media and committed to creating a quality piece of art. As for pet-sitting, I've been doing that for about 7 years as well. I've primarily taken care of cats and dogs (large and small), but also bunnies, cockatiels, ferrets, and hermit crabs.

    About

I will house sit and take care of your animals while you are away. This is a part-time business venture for me, since I work full-time. I have a BA in Psychology and an MBA. I'm extremely honest and dependable and love little critters.

    About

I provide pet sitting services for dogs of all breeds and sizes. I am an owner of 6 Corgies myself and I have learned about how to take care of animals with every day that I spent caring for them. To me, caring for animals is not rocket science. It is a profession that requires you opening your heart so that you could truly feel and provide what the animals need. They do not have a way to talk so being sensitive and observant to their behavior is of utmost importance. Aside from dogs, I could also take care of rabbits. I can follow your schedule in feeding your pets, playing with them, cleaning their mess, and I could give them a delightful belly rub for you.

    About

I'm specialized in bodywork. The definition is it's therapeutic touching or manipulation of the body by using specialized techniques. I also do the following: - Parrott training - House-sitting - Dog or cat walking - Organization or personal office space or files - Running for coffee errands

    About

I provide your home (and everyone in it!) with attention and tender loving care when you're away. I had the awesome opportunity to spend 3 years working as a nanny for two young children (and a sweet Yorkie-Pug mix) and have held various positions in the domestic industry for over 6 years. I can give your companion the one-on-one love he/she needs and won't get at a traditional kennel.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to hire a house sitter?

House-sitting can be a lifesaver when you’re leaving town for any length of time. Whether you work remotely, you’re taking a much-needed vacation, or you just want to road-trip for a few days, it’s wise to have a pro keep an eye on your house and pets while you’re gone. Your home is more likely to stay safe and you won’t have to wrangle the kitty into a kennel to travel with you. The national average pet-sitting price ranges between $20 and $30. Pet-sitting and house-sitting costs will vary based on where you live in the country and regional labor rates. Another factor in cost is how long you want the house-sitter to stay. Some people prefer to have the house-sitter stay the night at their house, perhaps to care for an elderly pet or simply to keep a watchful eye on the home at all times. Overnight stays will cost more, ranging anywhere from $50 to $100, depending on services provided. For day visits, house-sitting and pet-sitting prices will increase incrementally the longer the visit and the more service you want performed. For example, a quick 10-minute visit to feed and walk the pet and bring in the mail could be $12.50, a 25-minute visit could be $18, a 40-minute visit $25, and a 50-minute visit $32. How much should you pay for a pet sitter?

Pet sitting provides your precious pet with in-home care. A pet-sitter can make a brief visit during the day to provide snacks, playtime or affection, or stay at your house for one or more nights to tend to your pet. Prices for pet-sitting will vary based on length of the visit. Nationally, pet sitting prices range from $20 to $30, although prices run higher for your sitter to stay the night. Prices will also be affected by where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pet-sitting prices based on length of time and region:

    • 30-minute visit: $17 in a small Texas town.
    • 30-minute visit: $25 in Southern California.
      • 45-minute visit: $28.
      • 60-minute visit: $32.
    • Overnight stay (10 hours): $50 in Texas.
    • Overnight stay (10 hours): $85 in Southern California.
      • 12 hours: $100.
      • 24 hours: $200. This is a good option for a sick, elderly or brand-new pet that needs constant supervision.
