Introduction: Music is my passion, and the center of my creative universe. Something I enjoy in my life, as well as creatively, is options! Just as with art, cooking, scultpting, fasion, or even how we choose our clothes or how to do our hair, we all have options to express ourselves! When I was young I used to describe myself as "wishy washy" because I could never decide on one aspect of music I mostly enjoyed. I changed my music major more than a few times in college, but this gave me a great gift. A large amount of unique musical experiences! Throughout my life and music career I have been involved in everything from: jazz bands, orchestras, quartets, marching bands, composing video game and film music, being a high school band director, arranging music, working at the Musical instrument Museum, and more! I also can't stop learning more instruments! I know now that "wishy washy" is just another phrase for "diverse" or "multi-talented." I've been involved with music for more than 20 years now. Music has brought me so many experiences creatively and personally; and I enjoy being able to bring the same things to more humans of all ages. Seeing students progress from no experience in music into performing, writing, improvising, and playing in groups makes me feel like I am impacting lives and in a small way changing the world. In regards to lessons I believe that lessons are lead by both the teacher and student. I teach each lesson to the best way each individual learns, and incorporate personal goals students want to achieve. Depending on the student and the interests, I will work on anything ranging from playing techniques, rhythm reading, sight-reading, improvisation, composing and arranging music, performance techniques, and theoretical and conceptual music ideas. I love helping people reach their goals!

I have been working with Armando for online saxophone lessons and it has been great! I started with no experience on playing saxophone or reading music. Now after two months, I can play WHILE reading notes! HE is a soft spoken, kind and professional teacher. He will adjust lessons to your ability and speed. His main concern is that you enjoy playing the saxophone, so the lessons give you personal creativity on what you would like to learn, or what type of player you would like to be. I'd recommend Armando to anyone looking to learn or re-learn the saxophone.

Our son has been taking clarinet lessons with Armando for several years. He puts great care into his work, choosing material to work on with his students, taking time to get to know them and also wanting to see them advance as musicians. He is affordable and flexible. We are very appreciative for all he does!

Armando is great! My son has learned so much! Armando doesn't just teach them how to play but dives into the creativity of music.

I saw nothing but improvement in my children's musical abilities once they started taking lessons with Armando. He's very kind and supportive of his students. Only wish he taught trombone so my youngest could have him too!

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

My prices are set by the half hour at the music store, but my travel lessons can vary depending on the length and travel time

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I like to chat on the phone to see what the customer is looking for and what goals they have. From there we can see what may work with our schedules and what location for lessons will work.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have been involved in music for 22 years. During that time I have had a multitude of experiences that have given me my unique experience. At Cactus high school in Arizona I was section leader and drum major, and in college at the University of Arizona I was also section leader and performed in the Pep Band at all the athletic functions. At the U of A I studies music education, composition, and jazz performance. I have worked with many high school marching bands and was also a band director in Tucson, AZ. Over the years I have performed with groups that have played at venues ranging from basketball games, swing dances, private events, concert halls, restaurants, corporate events, schools, music festivals, and more.
