I have been classically trained in photography and cinema production. I have shot, developed and printed my own negatives on medium format, and I have shot on some of the most advanced digital cameras to date. All in all I've been professionally capturing events for 15 years. Here's the thing. None of that mumbo jumbo really matters, save for the fact that I come to the table with rock solid knowledge of my tools, and that gives me the confidence to perform flawlessly on your big day with a smile, speed and a fun attitude! I love capturing the best moments of a couples' big day and turning it into dramatic works of art!

James was beyond fantastic ! We are a couple from North Dakota, who hired James last minute to shoot our Arizona destination wedding. He listened to our ideas and made us feel so comfortable in front of the lense. He captured every moment of the day, funny, sweet or steamy. We can not say enough great things about James’s charming personality or the quality of his work, by the end of the day, he truly felt like family. As a bride, I was so nervous about looking perfect in my wedding photos. He found a way to accentuate all of my assets in a way that was breath taking. My photos looked right out of Brides magazine ! James was an awesome photographer to work with! He was easily accessible and easy to communicate with. We connected on Thumbtack, through email, Instagram (he keeps in touch as a follower!), and eventually cell phone. He is very willing to work with his clients; He has very reasonable prices for many hours of coverage, and will drive to a destination location shoot because he loves what he does. He was very punctual with communication and planning, and arrived early to our event. He is based in the Mesa, AZ area but drove to northeast Phoenix for us, and central Phoenix for a shoot after us. His eye for photos is very unique and candid. I love candid! He captured real emotion and motion while still photographing me and the other members in my party from flattering angles. My FAVORITE part was his unique perspective, which made the photos appear to the viewer as if they were in the room with us (which was wonderful for our elopement ceremony since in fact our families were not present). He was very fun to work with; he was very energetic and outgoing, easily fit right in with our group and our feeling comfortable with him, and funny. He came prepared with jokes to help get some real laughs in our photos. I feel our quirks came out very natural with him. I love his framing in some shots, where he blurred foliage from the foreground. I also love the tones of the edits, very vivid and sharp. He was also EXTREMELY quick at returning the gallery of edited photos to me. That is so rare and I appreciated it immensely! I would definitely recommend James as a photographer for events, like weddings, elopements, and couples photos. His Instagram (jameslee101) also features some beautiful portraits, and macro-shots.

I have worked with James several times in the span of about 8 years, and each experience has been nothing short of outstanding! He is professional, fun, and creative! Whether it was a marketing video or photo shoot, James made sure to communicate his vision, that I was comfortable and having a good time, and most importantly, that he captured every little detail. The end results were beautiful images that I will always cherish! He is worth every penny, and I can't recommend him enough!

I am so happily pleased with James and the beautiful work he has done for me. Typically camera shy and overly picky, I was surprised to feel immediately at ease with him and his camera - and it shows in the photos. I actually had fun! When it came to photos of my stationery work - I was also impressed and surprised with each and every shot. However, the coup de grâce was the professional video. From a quick turn around to delivery of a product of ridiculous high quality and creativity, I was blown away. Add to all this his genuine and kind nature, and he’s my go-to guy for all things video and photography - for life.
