David promptly diagnosed the problem and thoroughly explained his solution. David also went above and beyond my expectations by explaining how my system was set up and how each component worked. This was extremely helpful as it will help me to better diagnose issues in the future. Given David's reasonable prices, thorough assessment of the issue, quick work, and friendly attitude I would recommend his services to anyone in need of plumbing or irrigation work.

I highly recommend Yzagere Enterprises if you need your irrigation system repaired. After contacting them, Joe, one of their service techs came out w/in an hour. More importantly, Joe did a great job of explaining to me what was causing our irrigation leak by showing us the negative impact of not regulating your water pressure. He then fixed the leaky tube, adjusted our emitters & our timer. Very satisfied w/ the service they provided.

Had Alex deliver rock for my front yard, he came by the house last week with samples of diff. rock to choose from, also had him revamp my irrigation system, as with all out of date systems, there were problems but Alex is making sure everything is resolved. I am also going to schedule Outside Solutions (Alex) to come out and remove a lemon tree in my back yard. Reasonable prices and the work is very high standard.

Jason was extremely professional and showed a great deal of respect for my project. I had a whole new drip irrigation system installed as the previous one was done by a very poor, do-it-yourself-er. Jason explained everything he needed to do step by step in a simple way I could understand. To me it seemed like a huge ordeal but Jason made it seem super simple and like he does it every day (because he probably does). I had previously gotten another quote and Jason came in under that one by a decent amount. He also offered to spread the rock I was having delivered and haul away some old bulk trash I had for a fair additional fee. I would definitely recommend Jason and his team. They are completely efficient and respectful and I'm super glad I hired them. And, bonus!, there's a 1 year warranty on the job. Thanks Jason and team!

Chris did a great job on our first project - getting our irrigation system repaired and programmed to provide watering efficiency. Chris took the time discuss our system and answer our questions. He came back to check a few days after completion and returned promptly when we called about an issue we later detected in bed near the front door. We are planning future projects and will have Chris complete them for us.

Great work! Hired Isac's Irrigation to swap out a broken control box on my rental property. He was able to get us scheduled in quick and went the extra mile to do a quick fix on a leak before testing the control box. Had a bit of a coordination issue with his job prior to ours running late, but his customer service, knowledge, and efficiency made up for it. Thanks!

Erick was absolutely amazing. He was the only person that called me. Even though he was busy he stopped by this evening to make sure the irrigation would shut off and then he checked everything so he knew what he needed when he came back. Very impressed and very happy.

James and his crew did an excellent job with our major irrigation and gravel installation project. They also fixed a few leaks, put in paver walkways, and gave us plenty of free advice. Their work was speedy and thorough, so needless to say we are as pleased as punch. We had multiple quotes from other landscapers, but HDK Lawns and More was the most responsive, easiest to work with, and all of it at a price much lower than their competition. James was consistently friendly and communicated with us at all turns. Even when we changed our minds or pointed out something we wanted done a bit differently, he did not bat an eye and was wonderful with jumping on the changes and working with us to give us exactly what we specified at no extra charge. Even little touches we had not specified like angling our walkway turns were completed perfectly simply as a matter of providing us the best quality work. We are keeping their information handy for any future projects because our experience with them was absolutely perfect. All my best to James and his company in the future!

We were having a big problem with a pool pump not getting power from panel and Breaker and also no power to back barbecue and no water to drip irrigation. Three "Master" licensed electricians came and quoted from $1050 to $2090 to fix. Marco thoroughly tested and analyzed everything and resolved all problems in three hours for $180. He really knows his stuff. I never write reviews but if you are ever in a big bind like us and need someone who is honest and has the common sense and intelligence to really figure something out, look no further.

Daniel is amazing! He's been our landscaper for over a year and done great work at an affordable price. He's also done a great job on a number of special projects including a flagstone patio and replacing our entire irrigation system. He works hard to meet your needs and he and his team have been one of the best I've had since moving to Arizona 15 years ago. R&C is a great company with many talents. I had them install sod with a irrigation system that came out exceptional. They also laid down decorative gravel to enhance the visual representation of my home to buyers. They came prepared and knew exactly how to put my vision of what I wanted into action. I would definitely recommend R&C. Punctuality and professionalism is definitely important when working with someone. R&C delivered in all aspects

Eddie and his crew did a great job installing a 575 Sq Ft paver patio in my backyard. I provided the supplies and he gave me a great deal on the installation, saving me about $1,500 compared to other quotes I received. He was knowledgeable, courteous, on time and even picked up the supplies for me for an extra $50. While he was on the job, he also took the time to give me some advice on how to get the grass on the other side of my yard in order. I would recommend him for any landscaping project.

I am completely satisfied and will contact him over and over again . I am a Realtor and he will be on the top of my list for irrigation specialists .

Valley of the Sun has done routine maintenance (trees & shrubs) for us on a couple of occasions and we've been very happy with them. They're knowledgeable, they come when they say they will, do what they say they will, provide quality work, and charge a fair price. They also removed and replaced a malfunctioning irrigation timer for us recently and that was done well also.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a landscape contractor do?

Landscape contractors work from outdoor architectural or design plans to build and install hardscaping or softscaping for the client, much as a general contractor uses architectural designs to build a house. Landscape contractors are experts in soil drainage, grading, hardscaping (installing concrete paths and retaining wall, building ponds, etc.), and planting. They have heavy equipment such as excavators and tractors to prepare the land as needed.

Some landscape contractors are also landscape architects or landscape designers. The titles can be compared with those in home construction: A building or landscape architect must earn a specialized architecture degree and pass an exam to have a license. A designer — whether an interior designer or a landscape designer — does not usually require a license to work. Landscape contractors are not required by law to work from plans designed by a landscape architect, so you may work directly with the landscape contractor to specify the work you’d like done. The national average cost for large-scale landscaping projects is $10,160. Pricing can vary greatly depending on the project scope, materials and design.

How do you find a good landscape architect?

Hiring a landscape architect is an investment in your home. Landscaping can reduce water bills, improve your home resale value, add to your daily living experience and significantly boost curb appeal. A landscape architect will draw the designs for your new landscape; you’ll want to hire a landscape contractor to carry out the plans. Many companies provide design-build landscaping services, with a company architect creating plans for your vision and the landscape contractor executing the vision. With the proper academic background and licensing, a person can be both landscape architect and landscape contractor. Here are a few tips for finding a great landscape architect:

  • Research online portfolios and find several landscape architects whose work interests you.
  • Read online reviews of client experiences.
  • Research whether the landscape architects you are interested in are currently licensed and in good standing with the licensing board, and check whether any complaints have been issued against them. Each state will have their own searchable database. For example, you can search for California landscape architects via the state’s Department of Consumer Affairs.
  • Request bids from your selected landscape architects.
  • Hire the one you like the most, taking care to have a clearly written contract outlining scope of work.

What should you look for when hiring a landscaper?

Landscaping can be costly — though it usually pays off in curb appeal and home resale value — so finding a landscaper who is worth the investment is important. When hiring a landscaper, look for proven success with the type of results you want. For example, if you know you want a drought-tolerant yard, research websites, reviews and portfolios that showcase beautiful drought-tolerant yards that the landscaper has installed. In addition to relevant experience, you’ll want to find a landscape contractor who has good client reviews. Good communication skills are another important quality in a landscape contractor, since everything from plant selection to hardscape installation needs to be discussed and agreed upon. A landscape contractor who is reliable, easy to understand and able to listen to what you want will help make the process seamless and enjoyable.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
