Total professional. Had 3 guys and was in and out like a NASCAR pit crew. Took a palm down in a tight space with no problems. Left my yard spotless. Would love to hire him again for my other problem palm tree. Just because you have a chainsaw and a truck doesn't make you a professional tree trimmer. This guy is top notch. Hire with confidence.

It took some back and forth to determine when they were coming to do the job, but once they got here they did a great job! They quickly trimmed the trees and blew away the debris a requested. They didn't even trample my plants under the tree as most landscapers do.

The project for Chris and his crew was to prep front yard, lay brick border and spread rock. I meet with three different landscaping companies and Numbero Uno Tree and Palms had the best price by far. What impressed me the most was the time Chris spent with me during the initial quote. Chris spent a good 45 minutes talking through the project. He was on time for the appointment, actually early which never happens. In addition, during the appointment Chris recommended an outstanding palm tree person. I got the name from Chris and Lucio was everything Chris spoke about. He did an outstanding job on my trees and now I have Lucio for life to do my palm trees. I do want to say that Chris and his brother have done an outstanding job. I got to be part of the process which I really appreciated. Both Chris and his brother were very polite, I could ask questions throughout the process. What I really like the best was that they did not rush through the project. Numero Uno Tree and Palms will be the company I use from here on out for all project at my house. They are definitely Numero Uno in my book. Thanks Chris and Adrian for a job well done.

Brett was very polite, skilled, punctual, knowledgeable and went above and beyond what I could have expected. In the past I’ve used CL to find tree trimmers and although the price was cheaper the end result was definitely not up to par with the job Brett performed. I would definitely recommend spending the few extra bucks to hire Brett to get a far superior and knowledgable tree trimmer. I have finally found someone who I will use every time I need my trees trimmed.

Eddie went above & beyond to help this old lady out! I hadn't been able to work in my yard due to some elbow & shoulder injuries & things were way out of hand!! Not only did he trim up my horribly overgrown trees & bushes, he also took down an eyesore of a palm, pulled some weeds, hauled everything away & left me inspired to plant some fall flowers! I feel like the weight of the world has been lifted off my shoulders! (Eddie was also mindful of my doves who nest in my ficus & left their home undisturbed....they were out there cooing this morning!) THANKS SO MUCH!

I really can’t say enough about Danny and his crew. He came and took down a 40-50ft palm tree in my back yard. It was huge and in a tough spot right near my pool and back fence. He was working in 110+ temps and worked his *** off for almost 9 hours. He couldn’t finish in one day so agreed to come back the next day. Not only did he come back, but he cleaned up very well and even went to TWO neighbors’ yards to clean up debris that went over the fence. I can’t say enough good things about Danny and the job he did. Great quality of work, very responsive, and very fair rates. Thanks Danny!

We had an excellent experience with Jose and his crew. They showed up on time and did a great job removing two trees from our back yard. They ground the stumps and cleaned up all of the debris. They were courteous and worked safely and efficiently. We were happy to learn they got another job from a neighbor. I highly recommend them.

I live in Tucson and rent a house in Phoenix that needed a tree trimmed. They were able to come the very next day and trim a Palm tree in the front yard at a very reasonable rate. They sent me pictures on my phone of the before and after. They did an incredible job! Thanks for your hard work!

I hired M.A.R Landscapes to trim two palm trees in my backyard that were about 20-25 ft in height. Their quoted price was the best by at least $70. The initial appointment was set for 7am on a Saturday. I received a text the night before stating it would not be that early and probably closer to 8:30am. At 9am I had not received any updates and had to reach out to them. I was informed the dump was packed which put him behind schedule so I asked what time I should expect them to show up. About 30 minutes later I received a response stating that they would not be arriving until 10:30am. I already had plans that morning which this delay had already pushed back so I requested to reschedule. He was very apologetic and let me know he would be available Monday at any time. We scheduled for 7am; the night before he confirmed our appointment and showed up promptly. The process took a little longer than I expected but they also skinned one of the trees which was not part of the request but extremely appreciated. They did a great job trimming the palm trees and cleaned up very well. Overall it was a solid experience and I would definitely hire them again if I needed any landscape work. A little proactive communication and I would have given a 5-star.

Left the yard looking very clean, but weeds and unwanted grass returned in close to a week and were much more spread out than they were previously as a result of using a trimmer to cut the weeds and unwanted rather than pull them from the bedrock. Also, the trimmer shot bedrock all over my lawn which has been a pain to clean up. In all fairness, his price was reasonable and there was a lot of work to do so I think they had to cut corners to get the job done in a reasonable time.

Dalton and his team did an amazing job trimming our palm trees. Not only are they super approachable and friendly, they offer great pricing. Other tree trimmers have done much less work for a lot higher costs. Dalton and his crew were fast, and very very conscious of our yard. They even added the pool after they were done and move to the pool furniture back to the deck. we are clients for life

Arnol contacted me and advised he would be early! Yes early! He and his team made quick work of trimming my 5 palm trees & removing and cleaning debris. They also hauled away my weed pulling bags I had from the weekend (for a small additional fee). Priced very (and I mean very) reasonably. I will absolutely use them next time my trees need trimming and will highly recommend!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to remove a tree stump?

Once you have a tree cut down, you’ll probably want to remove the tree stump as well. You may want the stump removed for aesthetics, the tree stump could be diseased, you might want to prevent regrowth, or you may find the roots are causing problems and need to be removed. Tree removal costs don’t always include the cost to grind out or dig out a tree stump after the tree has been felled and the trunk removed. The national average cost for stump removal ranges from $150 to $200. There are two main methods for dealing with tree stumps. In grinding, pros use a chipping machine to grind away the above-level tree stump until it sits just below the soil surface. Tree stump removal entails lifting the entire root ball of a tree out of the soil. Removing the stump will leave a hole in the ground and also take more time, labor and money than stump grinding. Here are some examples of average tree stump removal costs:

  • Stump grinding: $2-$4 per inch.
  • Tree stump removal: average of $60-$350.

The final price will depend on the stump’s size, condition, location and condition of the soil around it.

How much does it cost to trim a tree?

The national price range for tree trimming is $270-$450. Tree trimming is often done by a professional arborist who is trained to safely trim and prune trees for both the health of the tree and the safety of the residents and their property. Trying to do your own tree trimming is not advisable unless you have the proper know-how. Tree trimming companies may charge an hourly rate for their services. The hourly rate may be higher or lower for different trees to reflect the relative safety measures, skill, equipment or people power needed to handle the job. For this reason, most tree services provide free estimates.

One example of an hourly rate for professional tree trimming services is $150 per hour. Costs may be under $100 or could be higher than $300 per hour, depending on variables such as proximity to buildings, health of the tree, height and diameter of the tree, and type of tree trimming desired. Geography and regional cost of living and regional costs to do business will also play a role in your tree removal costs.

How much does it cost to remove a fallen tree?

If you need to have a tree cut down, have you planned what will happen next? Arborists often charge an additional fee to quarter and remove the fallen tree from your property, so anticipate this as part of your tree removal costs. You can elect to have the wood cut for use in your fireplace, or you may prefer to have it hauled away completely.

Tree removal costs may vary based on the height and the width of the felled tree. Size affects the labor required for removal, which will be reflected in the cost. For example, a tree service company may charge an additional $100-$120 to haul away the pieces of a felled tree. The service may cost as little as $75 in some regions and more than $150 in others. Regional labor rates, the cost of living and the cost to do business in your area will be reflected in your tree removal cost.

How much does it cost to cut a tree down?

When you’re ready to have a tree on your property come down, it’s time to call an arborist. The national average price range for tree-trimming costs is $270-$450. Tree removal costs can vary based on the height, diameter, location and health of the tree, and on whether you want to remove the stump. Height plays a major role in tree removal costs. Small trees, no more than 30 feet tall, are usually thinner in diameter and easier and safer for an arborist to manage. Removal of a small tree can cost anywhere from under $150 to over $450. Removal of medium-height trees, from 30 feet to 60 feet tall, could cost anywhere between $150 and $850 or more. Tall trees, typically 60 feet to 80 feet tall, may start at $500 or cost more than $1,000 to cut down. As the height and diameter increase, so does the cost.

Location is critical, too. Removing a tree in an open space is quicker and presents fewer obstacles than removing a tree that is growing flush to your house. Arborists can assess your tree and provide you with quotes based on the variables involved. For example, removing a medium-size hackberry tree that was growing too close to a home — the roots were damaging the home’s foundation — cost $1,500. This price included rope-down, house protection, tree quartering and stacking, and stump removal.

How much does it cost to cut down a massive tree?

If you have to remove a big, beautiful tree from your property, you’ll definitely need an arborist. Cutting down a massive tree without the proper tools or training can lead to major property damage or injury. A huge tree may need to be removed if it is diseased or dying and poses a safety risk, has suffered a blow from a storm and isn’t safe, or is growing into your home, your home’s foundation, your septic system, or your power lines. Removal costs for such large trees will depend on the tree’s height, diameter, and relative safety and accessibility, as well as whether you also need the felled tree and stump removed. The bare minimum for removal of a tree over 75 or 80 feet would be $1,000. This may not include tree quartering and removal or stump grinding. Stump grinding ranges on average from $2 to $4 per inch of the stump’s diameter. There is no set price as each situation is unique, so it’s always best to have an arborist give you a quote and detail exactly which services are included in the price.
