Sommar always did her best to teach me how to sing and play piano. She cares so much about her students success and how to teach them most effectively. Although she taught me how to play piano and sing, I feel that the most important aspect is that she taught be how to read music. I had multiple music teachers as a kid, however, I never completely understood until I was taught by her. She was the only music teacher that was able to make me understand. Therefore, not only do I feel more comfortable playing piano and singing, but I can also read music for other instruments as well. She is an amazing teacher and I wish I lived in Phoenix so I could have the pleasure of being her student again. Thanks so much Sommar!

"I've had many vocal teachers, Sommar has been the one who I’ve learned the most from. I have known her for about 4 years now. In that 4 years, 2 of which I was taking lessons from her, I went from being a low alto to hitting high soprano notes. She doesn't just teach how to sing but how to be a stronger performer. She also taught me proper terms and how to use them while singing. Sommar is an amazing teacher and I’ve learned a lot from her. She was not only my teacher but a friend when I need someone to talk to, always willing to listen. She made me love singing again when I lost my passion for it. We always had fun at lessons even though she pushed me to my fullest ability. I hope you give her a chance you will not be disappointed. "

I was an exchange student in the states a few years ago, and Sommar was my voice and piano teacher. It is not always easy to adapt to a new place, country or culture, and I found great support in Sommar. I had never taken voice lessons before, and was a bit insecure when it came to singing solo, but Sommar made me feel so comfortable and I felt I came so far. I had taken piano lessons before, but I was not comfortable with my first teacher. I felt she would sigh every time I had to play new pieces, and that only made me even more nervous. But when I started taking classes with Sommar, it changed immediately, and I really looked forward to her classes, and I learned so much. She is such a patient, talented, sweet and loving person and a wonderful teacher. Sommar is an amazing pianist and singer, and makes music fun and delightful. She would still be my teacher if I lived in the States!! And she is still a dear friend of mine. I can only give my best recommendations. Thank you Sommar.

FAQs

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Look for someone that is able to work well with children. Someone who is able to make the process of learning fun. Music is fun and there are plenty of teachers out there now so there is no need to take from a knuckle slapping teacher in order to be good. Ask for reviews of the teacher's work from former or other current students. The most important thing is to make sure your child or you feels comfortable in the space where the lesson is as well as with the instructor. A child will only practice if they feel it is a worthwhile effort on their part. If they like their teacher this will help them to feel it is worthwhile.
