Introduction

Thanks for checking out my profile! I began tutoring full-time in 2019 after graduating from Washington University in St. Louis (WUSTL). As a 27 year old with over 5 years of experience tutoring, I can relate to my students on a personal basis and explain material in a way that is practical and simple to follow. I teach many different subjects, including but not limited to Spanish, SAT prep and math through precalculus. My favorite subject to teach is Spanish, because I began learning it in high school and became fully fluent after living for a year in Madrid, Spain! I like to tell my students this because it shows how school can lead to exciting paths in the future. I look forward to working with your student to help achieve his or her full academic potential!

My son had a low D in his Spanish 2 class when he started working with Jake. He has trended up in grades since then and is now getting As and Bs in his spanish quizzes. He enjoys working with Jake and I appreciate his follow up on their sessions. Highly recommend!!

If you are in search of a great tutor, then look no further. Everything you look for in a quality tutor can be found in Jake. He is professional, accommodating, charismatic, compassionate, funny, punctual, knowledgeable, patient, and much more. I have struggled with math since I was a child due to ADHD, and it has continued well into my twenties. I have had countless teachers and instructors attempt to help me conquer math but to no avail. That was until I met Jake. Before Jake was my instructor, I was lucky to complete basic multiplication and division, but within a few short weeks I was doing linear algebra with his guidance. Not only was he the first one to show me how to solve these problems, but he would provide helpful tools and techniques for different scenarios. If at any time I struggled, he would lift me up and help me approach the problem from different angle(s) until I finally understood the material. He has such insightful lessons while simultaneously staying lighthearted. His intuition and empathy are highlighted throughout his sessions as he knows just the right thing to say at just the right time. It is awe-inspiring how genuine Jake is and his desire to help others with their success is remarkable. He is willing to do whatever it takes to defeat any challenge that is thrown someone’s way. If you have any doubts about whether or not Jake is the right person, let those worries cease and desist because he is simply the best and cannot be beaten. Jake has helped my daughter, who had been struggling with Spanish 1 as a freshman for most of the year. In a short time he has helped her in ways the teacher has not and cleared up some basics and she is getting much better grades. She likes his style and eagerness to help where she is deficient.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge $60 per hour and accept payment either in advance or the day of the scheduled session.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I usually schedule a phone or Zoom call with new customers prior to our first session. This allows me to get to know the client on a personal basis and to understand their specific goals and needs in tutoring. From there, we schedule our first session, which will be planned based on the subject matter and student’s goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated from Washington University in St. Louis (WUSTL) in May of 2019 as a business major and a Spanish minor. In high school, I took as many AP and Honors classes as possible. My academic background gives me the experience and skills necessary to help students excel at all different levels of learning. The combination of my Spanish minor and year spent living in Spain allows me to teach both written and conversational Spanish.
