FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I don't know if it was "deciding" so much as "discovering." I've always been writing. All through college, friends would give me papers to edit, resumes to look over, song parodies to write. I spent time writing reviews and blog posts for little websites, or for fun. I was a staff writer for a student-run publication, and got to interview people and craft articles based around their experiences. It was a natural step. Fish are made to swim. I was made to write.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Most often, I tend to write blog posts designed to provide quality information, and highlight the company's brand, like I've done for businesses like Student-Tutor and Revolution Parts. Less common jobs include (but are not limited to) writing and designing flyers for events, editing resumes, designing business cards, touching up copy on web pages, writing employee manuals, documenting processes, and writing and designing e-books.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
Recently, I wrote and designed a 28-page e-book for Student-Tutor, LLC, called "A Parent's Guide to College Planning." As a growing company, they needed something that would really catch the attention of potential customers, build their trust, and funnel them over to tutoring services. It turned out beautifully. Both co-founders are absolutely thrilled with the final product, and are currently using my e-book to entice website visitors to attend one of Student-Tutor's educational conferences!
