Introduction: I tailer my teaching approach to each individual’s need and learning style. Especially with toddlers, I am aware of mood and relationship building needs. I love watching a student succeed and develop a love for music! Helping people runs in my family and that is why I am here! I am fully invested in my students’ progress and I am rewarded with their success as much as they are! For some of my students, cello is therapy for their soul and for others, cello is their competitive passion. Its my joy to share my conservatory training and love for making music.

Cello Lessons

Just a fantastic cello instructor! He gave me a free initial lesson, which was very nice. He's getting his doctorate in teaching, which is much more valuable to a student than a professional cello player who might not know much about actually teaching. Wesley has also played professionally, so he's a complete package. I can't say enough about how great our first lesson was, and I'm going to continue with him. I've taken lessons with symphony cellists, and the difference is pretty remarkable. Thanks to Thumbtack for finding him!

Cello Lessons

A true gem! I’m so glad I found Wesley. As an older student learning cello, finding a quality teacher who is patient and flexible is a godsend. I would highly recommend Wesley to anyone of any skill level. With today’s technology, it is incredible to be able to take lessons from the best teachers no matter how far away they might be.

Cello Lessons

My 9 year old son has taken a couple of lessons with Mr. Skinner and really likes him. Mr. Skinner is personable, patient and professional. When I began my search weeks go, most of all, I wanted a teacher that had teaching experience. I’m pretty sure I found what I was looking for in Mr. Skinner. I like that he uses his computer screen to write in the music (which helps when learning virtually) and gives more information about some of the works and composers. I’m really glad we found Mr. Skinner and hope to work with him for a long time.

Cello Lessons

Wes is a talented professional, who is positive and gifted at teaching. As an adult beginner, I was apprehensive about my first lesson. But Wes was so gentle and supportive! I definitely recommend enlisting him as your teacher.

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Weekly Lesson Rate: 30 min lesson = $45 45 min lesson = $60 60 min lesson = $75 Travel fee = $15 (minimum hour lesson) Now billing August-December Semester **Free trial lesson to new students** Special promotions for tuition pre-paid 3 and 6 months in advance.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

My goal in the early stages of working with a new student is to identify learning style, practice load, as well as strengths and weaknesses of technique and musicality. These points will help determine the pace and approach to the early lessons.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

During my two cello performance degrees (BM, MM) at the Cleveland Institute of Music, I studied also Cello Pedagogy (Art of Teaching) under world-renowned Melissa Kraut and took 6 semesters of Suzuki Pedagogy Teacher Training to complete the entire Suzuki Method Cello Teacher Registration. During my final year studying at The Cleveland Institute of Music, I was appointed to CIM's Preparatory Faculty and also worked as Cello Faculty of Western Reserve Suzuki School, Hudson School of Music, and in Lakewood City Schools.
