Classically trained at some of the finest conservatoire's in the US and Europe. Ashlie Smith has been teaching music and performing for over 20 years. She loves working with people of all levels. Ashlie is a professional classical singer, trained piano player and serves as a choral and musical theater director at a local Highschool.
She engages beginners with methods that consistently get students on the keyboard, strumming ukelele, and singing freely. Students will progress at a pace that is comfortable for them but also challenging enough to grow. For her younger students Ashlie utilizes play based methods, games and songs to engage her younger students to develop their love of music while developing musical competency alongside the music theory basics.
For her more advanced students she can help prepare repertoire for college auditions, coach their acting and/or performing and prepare the student for musicals or any upcoming auditions or concerts. In addition, Ashlie has a minor in German and teaches diction for singers in Latin, Italian, Spanish, French and German.
In all her lessons, students will begin or continue their studies in music theory alongside their performing lessons to bring about a well rounded musician. Ashlie is a teacher who will meet you where you are and has a passion to help you grow and flower into the musician you will become. Twice a year Ashlie hosts a concert opportunity for her students to perform at a local venue. This opportunity allows for the students to prepare and share with each other at the end of the Christmas and school seasons. This optional performance helps to develop the students confidence in performing for others and creates a supportive environment where all her students come together to celebrate their accomplishments.
