Introduction: My name is John Black, and Teaching and playing music is my life.
I am the Big Band Director at the Tucson Jazz Institute, and I have been teaching elementary through high school students for 3 years.
I am very experienced in giving private lessons on instrumental Technique, music theory, Jazz music theory and harmony, developing a practice routine, gaining musical confidence, and many other topics.
I teach instrumental lessons on Guitar, Electric Bass, Upright Bass, Trumpet, and Trombone.
I also am very experienced with using video sharing tools (Skype and Zoom) for online lessons, and I can be available for outside/physically distanced lessons.
I love music and what it can show people about life. Everyone has excellence and unlimited potential within themselves, and I teach music hoping to help you discover your inner excellence.

John explains things really well and understands that everyone learns differently. He is fun to be around and easy to talk to. He is very knowledgeable on all instruments. I never feel embarrassed to ask him questions.

My experience with Johnathon black is incredible. You get alot from every lesson that he gives you. He is immeasurably talented in many instruments and he can he even teach you things you never thought to learn. All in all amazing teacher, and he is someone you should definitely contact if you need to learn from an expert.

John black is an amazing teacher. He is a great musician and also a great person. Easy to work with and understanding. He knows how to make a person understand that they can be more then they even think. To be a much better musician and a much better person if you let him do his magic and you practice.
