Josh was very professional. This was a “hit or miss” job with not a lot of direction. He utilized his time well to get things done that he could but it was very frustrating as there was a delay in communications from the owner to approve the estimate. Btw….this is a rental property with the owners living out of State. I truly appreciate his patience and all the hard work he put in!

Details: Home • 6 rooms • Walls • Trim • 8 - 10 feet (standard ceiling) • Repainting, with same color • Repainting, with a color change • Fair - minor holes and scratches • Homeowner or property manager • No, this is not new construction • No, I will move things out of the way myself

Work quality was very good, I'll give this pro that. What was not good was the professionalism when it came to finance aspect. 1) The $0 service fee is apparently a suggestion. You will be charged a diagnosis fee, it's not free. In my case this was $250. This amount was not disclosed by the pro prior. 2) There is a charge for the pro coming to you. Something that was also not disclosed prior, but come payment time, the pro did let me know, he waived this amount ($75). 3) If the pro states that a part is needed for the job and he can "go grab it" from the local hardware store, understand that there will be a trip fee. In my case, pro verbally told me this was $50 for the approximately 12 miles, to and from the hardware store. 4) Pro declined to provide me with a receipt for the part that he purchased and charged me for. 5) Insist on an invoice from the pro at the end of the job. This was stupid of me not to do, and as such it took me a week to get said invoice. Said invoice was obtained with the aid of Thumbtack reps I reached out to, when I failed to receive a response from the pro following multiple attempts over the course of 3 days straight. In concluding, a replacement of one electrical wall socket ended up totalling $407.62. Pro declined to refund the $250 fee, which was supposed to have been $0. Moral of the story here is, free is not always what it's cracked up to be. In hindsight maybe I should have gone for one of the pros who had a fee with their listing. All that said, pro did a good job for me, and I've not had any issues so far with what was fixed. If you do go with this pro, just discuss every little finance aspect before anything is touched. Hope it helps.

Details: Fixture or outlet not working • Circuit breaker panel or fuse box • Under 8 feet (low ceiling) • House

The Helping Handyman LLC's reply
it's unfortunate that you are not great ful that I restored power to the upstairs of your home at 8:30pm and also most likely prevented a fire with replacing the receptacle that was burning and sparking in your wall. The price I charged you is more than fair and you shouldn't have told me that an estimate I was preparing for you at the time was unnecessary since stores were closing soon and I had to obtain the parts to complete your necessary repair to get power restored to your upstairs. I do apologize for the technical issue I was having that made me unable to provide you with the invoice immediately after the repairs. However I did provide you with your invoice at a later time just as I said I would do. Your bogus dispute in attempt to get $250 back from your payment is quite frankly ridiculous and seemingly ungrateful since you have been able to use your lights in your home again with no issue since the repairs. And to everyone who has read this and the review this is in response to, I am transparent with any pricing that may occur for my services rendered and have no issue whatsoever in discussing and providing costs before work is started. However, please do not expect me to come to your home and diagnose any type of issue you may be having and need fixed for free. I barely make a living as it is and would be bankrupt and homeless if I just drove around to customers diagnosing issues paying out of my own pocket. I hope this clarifies any concern or doubt in my integrity due to this review. if you have a task, just ask!

Joshua was very attentive to detail and went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect before he left and he even called me a few days later to make sure I was still satisfied with his work. I highly recommend The Helping Handyman LLC.
