FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Please note that the hourly rate indicated is my base rate and lesson prices will vary depending on your needs (e.g. extra-curricular support for an existing French class will cost less than an individually-tailored curriculum). I do not provide discounts for lessons under an hour, but package pricing is available on multiple lessons. Editorial/translation work is charged by word-count and corresponds to the work required (e.g. proofreading, copy-editing). My rates are competitive with industry standards. Large projects may be discounted.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I offer students a free 30-minute meeting to establish their learning goals and, time-permitting, begin studying together. If you are in need of editing/translation services, I ask that you let me know the size and nature of the document, as well as your timeline for the project, after which we can discuss rates via e-mail or Zoom call. For longer projects, I am happy to offer a limited sample of my services to ensure that my kind of work is what you're looking for.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a PhD in Comparative Literature, specialising in francophone Moroccan literature, and over ten years' teaching experience in private and public schools and universities. Over the course of my career I have received training and successfully taught subjects in ESL, French, Writing (academic and creative) and Literary and Cultural Studies. I have experience working with learners of all levels, from true beginner to post-graduate level. In addition to teaching, I have received editorial training at some of London's leading publishing houses and have several years' experience offering editorial and French-English translation services. I have experience editing and translating fiction, non-fiction and academic work.
