Susan C. says, "Jesus and his crew at Soto Handyman did an outstanding job painting the interior of my 2,000-sqft home in Oro Valley. From start to finish, every detail was handled with care and professionalism. They spent a full day prepping the house, completely covering the ceramic tile floors in every room with thick protective paper, and it showed in the final result. The edges where the walls meet the ceiling are far crisper than anything I could have achieved myself, and when they finished, the house was spotless -- no paint drips, no trash, nothing left behind. They even repaired hairline cracks in the 12-ft vaulted ceiling, something none of the other contractors who came out for estimates had bothered to mention. Jesus also has a real gift with colors. Based on a small sample of flecked epoxy that I'll be using to coat the garage floor, he found the perfect coordinating gray for the garage walls. He also selected a warm white for the area above the fireplace that brought the whole space to life. He's one of those rare people with an intuitive sense of colors, something I've seen in only one other painter before now. And if all that weren't impressive enough, his little daughter may decide to shower you with candy while you're doing the final walkthrough! An unexpectedly sweet way to end a very positive experience. For interior painting, I recommend Jesus and his crew without hesitation."See more

FAQs

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Repairing a treadmill typically costs about $200. However, treadmill repairs vary and repair specialists may have different prices. For example, replacing, lubricating and adjusting the walking belts all have different prices.

You also need to factor in the cost of the replacement parts. For example, a new treadmill motor costs $500 and a new drive belt costs $50-$100.

You’ll know exactly how much it will cost to repair, replace or maintain your treadmill by getting price quotes from treadmill repair services near you.

Yes, in many cases, a treadmill can be repaired. The service technician may need to lubricate your belt, replace a few parts or check the wiring — it depends on the problem. Ask a technician near you if your treadmill can be repaired or if you should replace it.

You should replace your treadmill belt if it’s beyond repair and has gone through too much wear and tear. A service technician can help you determine if it’s time to replace the belt. Here are a few signs that indicate you might need to replace it:

  • You can feel or see fraying, cuts or snags.
  • Your belt has loose seams.
  • The belt is discolored or your see dark/black streaks.
  • It’s more difficult to run (or it doesn’t feel as smooth)
  • You can feel uneven wear when touching both sides of the belt.

treadmill service professional can help you determine if it’s time to replace your belt.

If you think you need your treadmill repaired, hire someone who specializes in exercise equipment repairs. Ideally, the professional will have a few years of experience servicing treadmills and other types of equipment.

Try to find a service technician who’s been certified by equipment manufacturers — ideally, someone who’s certified by your treadmill’s manufacturer.

If you don’t lubricate your treadmill, you risk your treadmill getting damaged. For example, you could wear out your belt, deck and drive motor. Skipping the lubrication will put more stress on your treadmill and interfere with its performance. And too much stress on your machine could also lead to expensive repairs in the future.

It’s important to maintain your treadmill to keep it running. To stay on top of maintenance, you should:

  • Wipe down the surface after each use
  • Lubricate it as necessary
  • Clean the belt and deck
  • Replace broken treadmill parts
  • Get the belt aligned
  • Maintain the belt’s tension

You can find a professional to help you maintain your treadmill on Thumbtack.

You’ll need to thoroughly review your insurance policy to find out if a treadmill (or other exercise equipment) is covered.

Treadmills typically last at least 10 years, and some experts say they can last 12 years. To extend your treadmill’s lifespan, take steps to properly maintain it. Read your manufacturer’s guidelines for tips on how to properly care for your treadmill and repair it as needed.

Professionals who have a lot of experience servicing treadmills, positive customer reviews and/or certification from treadmill manufacturers are the best pros to service your treadmill. Sometimes, these professionals are handymen or contractors. Use Thumbtack to learn more about the top-rated treadmill specialists in your area.

To repair a treadmill, a specialist will diagnose the issue (and they may charge a diagnosis fee). For example, they’ll figure out the answers to these questions:

  • Why is the treadmill going too fast or too slow?
  • Why is the belt slipping? Is it too loose or too tight?
  • Why is the treadmill refusing to turn on?
  • Why is there a burning smell coming from the treadmill?

Once the source of the problem has been identified, a pro will take steps to repair it. If the belt is too loose or too tight, they might adjust it with a wrench. Or if the belt is dragging, they’ll lubricate it.

But if there’s a bigger issue, the repair person may need to replace a few parts, such as the motor or drive belt.
