T S says, "Jason is AMAZING. Nobody realizes how critical energy audits can be. An HVAC tech will tell you that you need a brand new $15K-$20K system but never once check for duct leakage. We've used Jason twice now, on 2 different homes. I'll never use anyone else. His attention to detail is extraordinary. He's basically a forensic detective when it comes to tracking down the source of energy loss and indoor air quality problems. The first house was a brand new build with a central ERV (energy recovery ventilator) that I had installed by a reputable HVAC company. When summer rolled around, our electric bill shot up to over $600/month, our entire home smelled like insulation, and we started having all kinds of health problems. Since the home was still under warranty, I contacted the builder. They refused to even visit our home, claiming we had voided our warranty when we installed the ERV.I also contacted the HVAC company, who had installed the ERV and explained the situation. They claimed it must have been an issue with the builder because there was no way their work could have contributed to the problems we were experiencing.Beyond frustrated, I found Jason. He spent many hours examining every inch of our home. And, he found the problem. Our master bedroom was measuring -5 pressure! Mostly due to a live, disconnected supply duct that had slipped down between the wall cavity. He also found a number of builder defects that were affecting our energy usage and air quality.Using the photos and descriptions in Jason's report, we were able to get the builder to fix the defects and, legitimately, (re) Energy Star certify our home. (It was supposed to be Energy Star certified already, but that whole program is a joke, and nobody actually audited our home until Jason came along.)We were also able to demonstrate that the HVAC company had left a live supply duct disconnected in our attic when they installed the ERV. If it weren't for Jason, we might never have figured out the issues.Do yourself a favor and hire him to do an energy audit on your home. You won't regret it."See more
