I hired Agui and his team to install a 450 sq ft patio, dry/french well as well as plumbing in and installing a natural gas fire bowl. I obtained 5 quotes, of which Bostonian Carpentry was one, and my decision to go with Agui was based on a comparison of overall cost and a general vibe of trust.Right from the outset Agui was attentive, listened to my needs and interests, and helped with ideas/solutions when we needed them. He even accompanied us to the local stone yard to help with our patio choices. We had a budget, which he stuck to, and overall was a genuine dude to work with. The project was completed promptly and on time.You'll see two sets of before and after pictures. I was choosey about the fire bowl so that's being delivered in 4 weeks (you can see the gas pipe ready for the install) and the rest of the back yard needs landscaping (on my todo list!). The patio is all Agui's team's work and is fantastic.I absolutely recommed Boston Carpentry and Masonry and encourage anyone to use them.Cheers Agui!

We hired Agui Souza and Bostonian Carpentry for carpentry work, because he first came across as trustworthy, responsive, and competitive on pricing. Don't get fooled by the initial conversation.Agui Souza is a con artist. He makes promises he won't be able to keep on cost, quality, and timing. And then he'll disappear once things get challenging, leaving a wreck behind him that other contractors won't want to touch with a ten-foot pole, and leaving you several thousands of dollars short.He took our money but never actually showed up to supervise or do any work on the house himself. He had dubious subcontractors show up and do actually more damage to our house than the things they were supposed to replace, repair, or build. The subs clearly had no qualifications to do the carpentry or roofing work they were supposed to do. I doubt they were insured. The wrong materials were ordered. Some materials were never ordered causing multi-month delays in simple tasks. We had to check everything after him when he did place an order as all measurements were wrong, quantities were insufficient, critical components were never ordered and missing.Agui would disappear for long periods of time, not returning calls or texts, his voice mailbox full. And then he would resurface, with always a different excuse, and show up, driven by someone else (I suspect he doesn't even have a driver's license), to ask for the next payment. After we asked him to redo basic framing work his subs couldn't get right after 4-5 times and after he damaged our front porch beyond repair, he finally stopped returning our calls. We'll see him in court. Stay away the company is a joke and Agui is a con man. A lot of the good reviews are clearly fake - one of them is even from him to himself... Pathetic.
