Honestly I had no idea I was working with him! I had seemed his service in requesting help with my health and with my career. I was instantly drawn to him and felt like I could open up with him! I can’t say it was an easy route bc by far it wasn’t! This experience has been by far one of the hardest obstacles I’ve ever had to encounter! I’ve been back in school and pretty much training myself through the whole process or at least it felt like I was alone struggling to make this happen but I’m now realizing that I have a whole Network of people on my side! You guys have given me what they call tough Love! I feel like a renewed & young again (speaking of mentally!) LoL I am just getting started! Have a whole life ahead of me! I’ll never be done learning! Always be helping, contributing, giving, achieveing and being all I can be! If for some reason I fail at a job I’ll still have my children and my children are the most important thing in this world to me! I’ve lost my twin sister years back and my life has been downward since then! John , thank you for that tough Loving! They are the reason I’ve changed! I thank God everyday for helping me to overcome my issues I once had! I look forward to coaching right along side of John! We all need to start helping one another even the small things can make a huge difference ! Anyone like to join in on change?! All is welcome! I’d like to thank all of those that were involved! God Bless each and everyone of you! To everyone’s success! Few others I’d like to mention , Palm beach Research Group, Marketers Traders Institute, Social Security, NBC, CBS, Funnel X Project, Go Daddy,Click Bank, Sen,.....there’s many many more! Forgive me in advance to those I haven’t mentioned. Once again God Bless I love you all! Together we can...CHANGE

Sean is an intuitive, insightful and compassionate healer. I went to him for help with my career. After a couple sessions it turned out it wasn't my career that was in need attention but other areas of my life. I had some internal mental blocks that we addressed. By doing some deep meditations, he helped me work through them. After each session I felt shifts happening in my life. They were subtle but very impactful. I can honestly say after working with Sean I feel more peaceful and content with where I am in my life. I strongly recommend using his services. It will be time and money well spent.

As a business owner and CEO most of my professional career, it is difficult to find someone who can cut through all the BS and get down to the core...my core...what drives me...what has held me back? What is the one thing that has been missing? Lea Goldenring helped me find those answers. She is very engaging and creates a very safe healthy environment in which to do some very productive work. I got more out of a few sessions with her than any of the many self help / self improvement books I have read. If you really want to take up your game, Lea is the "real deal" and is a pleasure to work with...Highly recommended!

Nicole played a big role in my career development. My issues have been trying to focus on what I want to do and how to do it, and working with Nicole on those issues put me on the right path for success. What I love about Nicole is that she forces you to see the big picture, ask yourself the hard (but necessary) questions, and then identify the steps to reach your goals. I look forward to using Nicole again when I need to navigate life and career changes, which I anticipate will reduce my fear of making those changes, knowing I have her in my back pocket.

Melissa's enthusiasm and positivity is infectious and present in everything she brings to the table. She's helped me question and think deeply about what I truly want in life, in both my career and my well being. She's pushed me outside of my comfort zone, and I've grown immensely. I highly recommend Melissa for anyone who is at a crossroads about their future!

Arya is a master counselor and life coach. He brings a potent combination of skills into his work: a sincere heart, a highly intelligent mind, and a wealth of professional training and experience. Every session feels expertly held in a professional yet humane container; the real issues are addressed, directly and sometimes sternly, but always with an authentic kindness and care. Arya has helped me to: -cut through my insecurities and obstacles around my artwork -focus in on and take more action with my career in more ambitious and visionary ways -navigate very old and difficult patterns with my family -recognize and begin to authentically relate to things I was avoiding about myself/my life in a way that has led to way more relief, freedom and positive action -and just more generally, being someone in my life I can trust to help me through the ups and downs of being a human I'll share one more thing: though I didn't experience this directly, my dear friends went to Arya for couples coaching/relationship counseling. They said they received incredible benefit from their work with Arya, and that if not for his intervention, they don't know if they would have made it. They spoke about his acute attention to detail, especially in tracking the subtle habitual ways that they would shut down or leave their hearts, while giving them practicable alternatives to create the kind of connected, intimate, and fulfilling relationship they were longing for but couldn't find. There's a reason (many reasons) why Arya is at the top of this yelp list. He is absolutely worth it!

I truly see Emily as a lifelong collaborator. She took the time to understand my professional and personal goals in order to help me work through my next career move. By artfully blending a holistic mind, body and soul approach to professional coaching she helped me articulate my passions and understand how those passions might align with my career goals. I highly recommend any person or organization to bring her into your process, the outcome was so valuable!

I've been working with Conrad Sherby of Life Sherpa Fitness for more than 2 years and find my weekly sessions with him a true highlight of every week. The gym where he practices is clean and uncrowded and reserved only for trainers with clients. It's a positive place where the trainers and clients are all respectful, happy, and working on their various goals. Conrad is a rare gem of a trainer, although the term "trainer" doesn't begin to cover what he offers! He is truly gifted and fully oriented to helping his clients achieve whatever health/fitness goals they want; heck, if you're not sure of your goals, he'll help you by asking the right questions, getting to know you and your habits, and figuring out plans with you. As you continue your teamwork, Conrad frequently adjusts the trajectory of your workouts and recommendations for you as your body or life events change (eg, you get stronger, you're injured, you're overly stressed from a poor work-life balance, your life has too little happiness at the moment, and so on!). Conrad also has a myriad of excellent referrals for you to increase your wellness, for example, to a massage therapist or gifted yoga instructor. Conrad gave me a reference to my new-favorite cookbook, too. As a true educator, he also will send you interesting and helpful videos, articles, or links to apps you may benefit from. We've even gone on weekend hikes with a small group together--just for fun and camaraderie while exploring something new. Conrad could easily have chosen to become a doctor, neuroscientist, teacher at any level, psychologist/counselor, among others, but it speaks to his passion that he chose what drives him the most: a career as a health/happiness/wellness/mindfulness coach using his large base of knowledge, his passion for science-based information, his innate ability to "get" people, and his orientation toward helping others attain a healthy life that works within their life patterns. He has tremendous patience and never judges others; plus, in between sessions, he will even text you to see how that new "habit" is going (eg, "how's the stretching going during the work day?" "Did you have a chance to step away from the computer and take a walk this week?"). I cannot recommend him highly enough--you deserve a try with Conrad to increase your levels of happiness and overall wellness.

I came to Emily for resume editing. I was in my job for three years since college and wanted to make a change. My resume turned out great! Through the process, I realized I wanted support with my job hunt because I wasn't even really sure what would make me happy. So I started coaching with Emily and it was amazing. First of all, she is a really kind person, which made it easy for me to open up. Second, she just gets right into things, which was helpful for me since I had some urgency with my job hunting timeline. Third, she is SO supportive. I saw her for a couple of months and then had to pause because I got a job and wanted to travel before I started. I'd happily recommend Emily to anyone looking for help with their resume and career support.

I reached out to Timur at a time in my running career when I needed some guidance in reassessing my relationship with the sport. I had been training for the Olympic Trials and had experienced a particularly disappointing season, which had left me searching for a new approach. Timur was just what I was looking for. He was able to bring his background in therapy, his own experience as an elite athlete, and his martial arts techniques into our sessions. He created a safe space for self-discovery and growth. We delved into advanced body awareness, technical aspects of running, meditation, flow-state running, race planning, and even play. I walked away from our weekly sessions with tools for life, in addition to running. At the end of our time together, I had found the shift in my relationship to running that I had been seeking, thanks to Timur. I would recommend him to any runner, no matter what your experience level. He facilitates a relationship with running that is deep, meaningful, and sustainable. A rare find!

Donna is not only a knowledgable career adviser but also a very supportive mentor throughout my job search and offer negotiation process. In the first meeting, she already identified my weak points and developed a plan for tackling each of them. Throughout the process I learned to communicate succinctly, maintain poise and overall demonstrate seasoned professional material. After working with Donna, I have successfully landed a few offers and negotiated terms for my dream job which I am happily working on now. I definitely recommend Donna for anyone who is looking for a career adviser or for any help to advance her/his career. Just one meeting will help you understand the changes needed and where you can get to. I love to continue working with Donna!

Rick is a stellar coach! He helped me through huge transitions in my life. I have struggled my whole life with identifying my true passions. I had many interests but nothing that felt authentically me, that brought pure joy to my life because I loved it so much. I was searching outside of myself for new projects and prospects that I thought might help me attain what I needed to find happiness, fulfillment and success. Rick took me through the passion test in a way that guaranteed getting to my top 5 passions. There’s a process to it that will not fail even if you have no idea what your passions are and if you do think you know, you’ll be shocked to find out that you may be limiting yourself with what you think they are. Once Rick took me through the process, my passions seemed obvious to me because they were the things I dreamed of as a kid before I started telling myself all the reasons I could no longer pursue those dreams. My perceptions and built-in beliefs about myself and about life in general we’re keeping me from my passions and joy. Rick was relentless in keeping my attention focused on literally reprogramming my beliefs and perceptions about myself until little by little the new and healthy beliefs stuck. That’s when the real results started manifesting in my daily physical life. Doors and opportunities opened up and started flowing to me in support of my passions. My old beliefs were false but they became my truth because I started believing the lies I told myself. The stark contrast of my passions unfolding before my eyes literally brought tears to my eyes when I started seeing this. After eight months of coaching with Rick, I am truly living and actualizing my passions not only in my career but life in general. I no longer engage in anything that does not bring me joy or that is aligned with my passions. My friendships have shifted into much healthier relationships. The dysfunctional relationships have either fallen by the wayside or have healed as a result of healthier beliefs about myself and life. Life seems to be flowing with me...or me with it rather than feeling stuck. I can’t count the ways my life has changed and become balanced, joyful, prosperous and fun as a result of Rick’s dynamic, relentless and loving coaching skills and personality. You may hear many things from Rick that challenge you to look deeply into your self and you may not like what you hear and see but if you really want your life to improve, you will one day be grateful that you have Rick on your side. He gives his heart, mind and soul to help you achieve your highest self. He has certainly found his own passion!

Michelle is an incredible mentor and career coach. First, I love that she is very high empathy and supportive. Michelle listens in a way that makes people feel comfortable, and she seeks to connect on a deeper level. She's also seen it all herself. Across her years in venture capital, management consulting, and fast-paced tech companies, Michelle has learned and succeeded in diverse, highly demanding environments. Because of these experiences, she's able to consistently provide both high-level perspective *and* super concrete, actionable next steps for career development. Finally, what I most appreciate about Michelle is that she's not afraid to give a push every now and then. She knows how to challenge people in the right ways. Meeting Michelle has accelerated my professional learning, and I highly recommend her to anyone.

Dave helped me hone in on goals in all areas of my life - personal, career, fitness - and helped me figure out a workable, achievable plan for making progress in each area. The really great thing is how he interwove those areas - engaging me in conversations about my relationships, for example, while walking or riding our bikes - so that I was actually ACHIEVING progress in every area during the time we spent together. Dave is laser-focused and you have his undivided attention, he is 100% present and there for YOU. You never get the feeling he's rushing you or just killing time until his next client or appointment. Even when I haven't been able to show up in person, Dave will get on the phone with me to make sure I'm staying on track; our conversations have always helped me clarify my thinking. Maybe most importantly - Dave CARES. He really, truly cares about you and your life and helping you reach a more positive, balanced, healthier life. I feel blessed to have him in my life!!

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a career coach?

If you’re interested in furthering your career and want expert help, a career coach is a smart solution. A career coach is a professional you hire to guide you during a job search or a career transition, or to help you improve and advance in your current position. A career coach analyzes your work situation and learns what your professional goals are. They then create a strategy to help you achieve your targets. Throughout the process they should provide objective feedback and guide you in approaching the process strategically. Here are some of the tools and tasks a career coach may assist you with:

  • Helping you build a strong resume that reflects your work history, potential, and skills
  • Coaching for interviews and strategies for solid answers built around your resume and the target job
  • Defining your career goals
  • Creating a plan for job searching
  • Improving networking strategies and skills
  • Developing strategies for negotiating raises or promotions
  • Assessing why you’re not getting where you want to go
  • Identifying new positions or career opportunities that fit your skills

What is a life coach?

A professional, accredited life coach works with people to help them make important changes in their life, either growing in their profession or changing gears in their personal lives. They help clients turn their dreams or wishes into realistic, attainable goals. They guide people through the process of making life changes by helping them evaluate the steps they must take to reach a particular goal, then help them decide how — and whether — to take those steps in the most efficient, effective and rewarding way possible. A life coach acts as a motivator, strategist and accountability partner. Unlike a therapist, a life coach doesn’t help solve problems from your past — they’re focused on helping you move forward with new ways of acting and thinking that will help you reach your goals. Some people specialize in particular types of life coaching, including life balancing coaches, small business coaches, executive coaches and personal finance coaches. Some meet clients in person, while others hold consultations over the phone.

Regardless of which type of life coach you’re interested in, make sure the person holds an International Coach Federation (ICF) credential. There are three tiers of credentials: Associate, Professional and Master, which require coaching experience ranging from 100 hours to 2,500 hours.

Why is career counseling important?

Career counseling can help you discover your career path, help you overcome challenges preventing you from finding happiness in your job, or help you learn more about career opportunities that are available to you. Career counselors are typically counselors who specialize in helping guide people into their best career choices. As professionals, they have typically completed a master’s degree in counseling with a focus on career counseling and bring a nuanced understanding of the emotional blocks that prevent someone from doing what they love or getting ahead in their current position. Here are some of the ways that career counseling can help:

  • Identify your skills and talents and how they correlate to different career paths
  • Educate you about the educational requirements for launching in various careers and what earnings can look like
  • Help you understand the kind of environment you want to work in, and which careers are best suited for that
  • See opportunities to transfer your existing skill set to other career areas
  • Help you identify causes of tension or unhappiness in your current career and how to overcome those difficulties
  • Help you create a game plan for moving forward
  • Provide a safe space for you to understand your feelings about career choices you’re making

How much does a life coach cost?

A life coach helps clients set and reach professional and personal goals, develop positive habits, and deal with stress. Some people meet with a life coach once or twice, while others form an ongoing professional relationship, meeting regularly in person or on the phone. The average national cost to meet with a life coach ranges from $80 to $130 an hour. Some coaches offer per-session pricing, especially for one-time meetings; expect to pay an average of $100-$125. People who want to work with a coach over a period of time to explore life transitions, career growth or lifestyle changes may be able to get discounted pricing in a package. For example, three 60-minute sessions cost an average of $300, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $350, and four 60- to 90-minute sessions plus unlimited contact between sessions cost an average of $400. Some specific types of coaching, such as relationship or marriage coaching, cost more than standard life coaching. For instance, three 60-minute relationship coaching sessions cost an average of $500, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $550, and six 60- to 90-minute sessions cost an average of $650 when purchased as a package. Training and experience can also affect the cost of hiring a life coach. An Associate Certified Coach, who holds a certification that requires only 60 hours of training and 100 hours of coaching experience, will charge less than a Master Certified Coach, who typically has at least 200 hours of training and 2,500 hours of coaching experience.

What is a career counselor?

If you’re feeling lost in your career path, overwhelmed, in need of a job but confused as where to start, or ready for change but uncertain what you want, a career counselor is a good choice for you. A career counselor is typically a licensed professional who has earned a master’s degree in counseling — likely with an emphasis on career counseling. Each state has different licensing requirements for career counselors, so be sure to research before reaching out to a pro.

Due to their academic backgrounds, career counselors often have a more holistic and in-depth approach than a career coach. Career coaches are not regulated by states and also tend to be more business-focused — a good fit for those who know what they want but need help achieving it. On the other hand, a career counselor provides guidance and clarity around some of the more emotional aspects that job hunting and career movement entail. Career counselors meet with you in a series of one-on-one sessions. They assess your personality and learn what drives you. They get a detailed understanding of your work history and your hopes, and often work to help you discover any internal blocks preventing you from going where you want to go. Hiring a career counselor is appropriate at any time in your career, from recent graduate to executive-level management.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
