Elite responded quickly and Curtis was sent out the next day to my home, well dressed and educated. Always was nervous about having a stranger in my home but Curtis was very trustworthy. I told the manager that Curtis was one of the most professional people I have met. English writing and Spanish tutoring has never been this easy

I had Ms. Miller for U.S. History for a year, and she definitely made the class very exciting. Instead of just reading the textbook, we got to play interactive games like Jeopardy to learn the material and work together on group projects. She is a great teacher, and I knew that I could always go to her for help if I needed it. Ms. Miller is also extremely nice, and she truly does love teaching.

A wonderful 5 stars. Kristen tutored my 7 year old son in reading and writing during the summer. I thought I would quote Kristen from a few of the updates she emailed us as I feel this aptly captures Kristen’s dedication, quality and professionalism as a tutor: “My hope is to help James feel authority and confidence when he chooses a book. The "quality" of the reading material is less important than the habit. No matter what he reads, he is becoming a better reader as long as he engages with the book… Learning to write is a procedural practice, meaning we wear it into our brains like a groove in a record. The improvement will happen over time. By the end of the week James could read his own writing back to me. At the beginning of the week, he couldn’t. Also he proposed his own writing assignment in lesson three. That self-challenging initiative is a good sign. That means he understands how to utilize tutoring, how to create an idea out of nothing, and how organize his thoughts around that idea. He dictated the piece and then I recited his dictation and assisted with spelling of larger words as he wrote. He clearly wanted to communicate his thoughts on soccer in writing…” My son ended the summer with a book about dinosaurs that he wrote and illustrated with Kristen facilitating the process and discovered a confidence and enthusiasm for reading and writing. We are grateful for Kristen’s help.

Kaitlin was my writing tutor for my college essays. She was very helpful throughout the process. The thing I liked most about working with Kaitlin was she gave me the freedom to devise my own ideas and writing tactics for the essays while she refined and perfected them. Kaitlin not only aided me in constructing well written essays, but also helped me become a better creative writer and learn advanced grammar rules that I could apply to my writing and standardized testing such as the SAT and ACT. She was very helpful and easy to work with.

Ellie tutored my daughter Jessica for several months for the writing and reading sections of the SAT. Jessica learned grammar and vocabulary that she had not been taught in high school and she learned speed reading with greater comprehension. As a bonus, Jessica felt her newly learned writing skills carried over to better grades in High School classes and improved her college application essays. Jessica really appreciated the opportunity to work with Ellie to gain the confidence to perform well on the SAT. As a result, Jessica earned a very high score on the SAT and was accepted to the University of California in San Diego. I highly recommend Ellie as a tutor for the SAT.

I met Scott at Mills College, where I am getting my MFA. I desperately needed help with my writing. My grades were slipping and I just couldn’t get a grip on the composition process. Scott and I met and went over a writing assignment I was working on. Wow, he is a deep person and knows so much!!! He is very detailed as well. I learned from Scott that writing is first about learning how to think critically. He makes criticism into an artform. He helped me develop and find my thesis and felt as we worked together over time that he opened my mind and helped me gain mastering the composition process. He really is talented. It’s no wonder he is a master of literature!!!

Darya tutored and advised me throughout my senior year of high school and my first year at college. Having Darya by my side throughout the stress of a year and a half journey has had a significant impact in my life. Although Darya's main responsibility was to tutor me for my Advanced Placement (AP) Literature class, she went above and beyond to what I expected of an English tutor. She helped me find my inner voice as a writer through tutoring me about grammar, organization, and vocabulary. She also helped boost my confidence as an underprivileged Latina studying in the STEM field as a computer science major at the University of California: Santa Cruz. I passed both my AP Government and AP Literature classes and tests which is significant because both required a heavy amount of analytical writing; I graduated high school with honors and with the highest cumulative grade point average (GPA), 3.7, at any time of my academic career. One week before I was going to take my SAT for the third time, I mentioned to Darya that I was struggling understanding a large portion of the Math section of the test. To my surprise, she was thoroughly capable skilled in tutoring me in math, along with English. In less than seven days, Darya was able to successfully prepare me for my last SAT test; subsequently, my SAT score improved by more than 100 points. If we had more time to go through the preparation book, I could have further surpassed this amazing progress. Another aspect in which Darya supported me in my college application and preparation process was in guiding me to refine my college essays for both private and public universities: as a result, I was accepted to more than half of the colleges that I applied to. Finally, I am most grateful for Darya and her efforts towards my success because of the high number of scholarships that I received in the second semester of my senior year in high school. Through Darya’s excellent editing and writing abilities, I was able to accumulate more than $200,000 in scholarship rewards from four different organizations. I could never have imagined this much triumph before meeting Darya; without these scholarship awards, I would have been forced to work during my breaks and during school to afford a college education. Now, all that I have to worry about is learning as much as I can while I am at UCSC. On account of my strong achievements in less than a year with Darya, I still utilize the many tips and lessons that she has instilled in me. As a result of this, I excelled in my classes at UCSC with a cumulative GPA of 3.6. Because of my outstanding academic success in the first quarter of college, I was exclusively invited by the university to apply to the College Scholars Program; this two-year program selects 20 students out of about 200 students applying from each college at UCSC to help give them meaningful academic challenges. Not only do I recognize Darya as one of the most significant people in my life because of my solid academic accomplishments, but also due to the genuine passion she holds to be sure that her tutees succeed. As her tutee, she constantly reminded me of my own abilities to encourage my confidence. We are still in contact today which further demonstrates her enthusiasm for her tutees. She is evidently benevolent, motivated, and intelligent, and I highly recommend her tutoring and guidance talents to any student who is fortunate enough to be her tutee.

Annette has been the main caregiver for our 3 year old twins since they were 4 months old. They adore her and I trust her completely with them. She is caring, conscientious and very loving with them. She is always doing fun activities with them…taking them to the zoo, the park, playdates, crafts, etc. She has also helped the kids to make good friends that they are very close with. We also have a 7 ½ year old that Annette occasionally cares for. She is also wonderful with her, helping her with her reading and homework, giving her individual attention, and making her feel equally important. She also occasionally makes dinner and helps with errands. We have another nanny that would work on Annette’s off days, and they would work together in order to arrange their schedules, switch days, etc. so that I never needed to be concerned about our coverage. We found Annette on care.com and she has been invaluable to our family. It is difficult raising 2.5 children in a household where both parents work full time. We feel very fortunate to have found such a wonderful addition to our family. She is very attached to the kids and has notified us that we are stuck with her until they go to college. :)

Ms. Zepeda has been tutoring my homeschooled 4th grade son in Spanish. He is very bright but new to the language, and really needed a sharp, encouraging, supportive instructor to help him along. Raquel has been such a wonderful blessing. Warm, patient, intelligent, dependable, and professional--she's been fantastic for our child. He is learning a lot and is excited about the process, due in no small amount to her fun and savvy guidance. He really looks forward to lessons with her! I would highly recommend you see if she is a match for your family, as well.

Lisa taught me how to write in just a few months. Even though I was a college junior at the time, I never knew how to write until Lisa became my tutor. I am now a successful psychologist who has written several manuscripts. I will always be grateful to Lisa for what she taught me! Dr. Tabin

About

Because we are small, we are able to offer a far more personalized approach than many large tutoring houses. Yet, we have the tools, training, and know-how of a large academic institution. For each student, we systematically work to identify problems, and then collaboratively create a plan to solve them using innovative curriculum design. Above all else, we are passionate about what we do! We care about genuine knowledge and understanding: we look beyond the numbers. We teach students to set their own goals, not merely jump through the hoops in front of them. We strongly believe that any student can succeed with the right combination of guidance, enthusiasm, and challenge.
