What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Every project is priced on its scope, materials, and site conditions. Before any work starts, we give you a written, itemized estimate so you can see where your money goes. To give you a sense of range, our recent projects have run from about $3,500 for a flooring job to about $38,000 for a full gut kitchen remodel. Permit fees and materials you choose are spelled out in the estimate. As California law requires, our down payment is never more than 10% of the contract or $1,000, whichever is less. Later payments are tied to completed stages. If the scope changes, we put the change and cost in writing and get your approval first.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
1. First conversation: We learn what you want to do, your timeline, and your budget.
2. Site visit: We walk the space, take measurements, and point out anything that could affect cost or scheduling, like permits, access, or existing conditions.
3. Written estimate: You get a clear, itemized proposal and time to review it and ask questions.
4. Contract and scheduling: Once you approve, we sign a written contract, handle permits where needed, and set a start date.
5. Construction: We keep you updated as the work moves along and keep the site clean every day.
6. Final walkthrough: We go through the finished work with you to make sure everything is done right before we close out.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
We hold a California B General Building contractor license (#1139468), issued by the Contractors State License Board. To get that license, we had to document hands-on construction experience and pass the state's trade exam and its law and business exam. We carry general liability insurance and pull permits where the work requires them. Our team's training comes from years of hands-on work in remodeling, concrete and block, framing, and finish work, and we keep learning on every job.
