I had Greenside Carpet come to clean our carpet and floor tile grout. They did a phenomenal job. So courteous, friendly, and prompt. Completed the job and charged exactly what they originally quoted (which was $25-$100 less than quotes from other companies). I will be recommending Greenside to my friends, and neighbors. No doubt I will hire Greenside again. I'm a happy customer :-)

My floors were a mess and had food stains that I thought they could never get out but not only did they get the stains out,my floors looked just as good as when I moved in! I will be calling So Cal Eco Cleaning for all my floor cleaning needs.

Based on my prior experiences, I assumed all professional carpet cleaning services used van-mounted equipment with one driver/operator. While quick, I'd always wondered how thorough those cleanings really were, as the equipment had to pull wastewater through a couple of hundred of feet of tubing snaking from the interior of my 3-story townhouse to the truck parked curbside. So it was pleasantly educational when I learned today there is a more comprehensive way of getting carpets cleaned. Instead of a one-operator crew, two guys - owner Chad and assistant John - showed up promptly at 10 AM and lugged a weighty 500 psi Sniper carpet cleaner up the stairs, all the way to the 3rd-floor loft, then proceeded to work their way down, one man applying pre-cleaning spray to and scrubbing the carpeted rooms and stairs, followed by the other operating the Sniper. Considering the two-man crew and 90 minutes spent on the job, Chad's price was more than fair, honoring the quote he gave me on Thumbtack. He wasn't the cheapest, but the accolades are definitely merited.

I'm a terrible housekeeper, but my parents were coming to stay with me for a few weeks. I need professional help! I've never hired a housekeeper before and I had a great experience with Rebecca. She was very nice, showed up right on time, and did a detailed cleaning of my whole first floor. It now makes my second floor look like crud. And she didn't even mention how bad a state it was in. (And trust me, it was bad.) The whole house smelled great and she was able to get the tub clean in a way I don't think it's ever been. I would definitely hire her again!

Wow my shower needed a deep cleaning and Michael made it look brand new. Didn't cut any corners but rather went out of his way to even regrout the floor edging, he also did my actual bathroom floor and sealed everything after he was done. I'm ecstatic with his work ethic and the finished result. I'd like to say that I was totally satisfied with Michael trejo's service. He installed granite counter tops and tile in my kitchen mid December and it looks amazing. Michael was excellent in his workmanship. He helped pick out tile and granite and made other suggestions. I would hire him again for other services. Thank you again Michael.

Strip, seal, wax floor of Church Social hall, same for stage and refinish two long pews. Mostly accommodating to schedule, partly because fell behind original schedule, but I was keep abreast regularly on the status of ongoing work. Because of he condition of floors, many more hours were expended than estimated, but the final job was outstanding. Starting receiving many positive comments before job was completed. Would highly recommend this company.

Steve responded quickly to my inquiry regarding putting in a wall mounted dog door. He arrived on the designated day and time; even arriving a few minutes early. He professionally went to work installing my very expensive “Hale” dog door. He protected my kitchen nook floor and outside area where work was to done. His attention to detail and cleanup was great. The dog door needed to be placed under a window, and he was able, with confidence, adjust electrical wires in order to accommodate the door. He is very friendly and his price for this project was very reasonable. I will definitely use him again for other projects that I need done. I am very happy with his work. My photo of this door came out horizontal, instead of vertical, but hopefully it shows how well Steve installed my double wall Hale dog door.

Scott swapped out three lights, finished grinding out the grout in the kitchen floor and re-grouted it, and recaulked the bathtub/shower. The kitchen floor took longer than I expected, but a good job overall.

Tynia and Chris are AMAZING! My home is cleaner than it has ever been in the nearly three years we’ve lived here - they truly live up to the “OCD” in their name. Walking through my home and seeing my stark white shower tiles, sparkling appliances, shining hardwood floors, and artful vacuum patterns in my carpets, I can tell Tynia and Chris take pride in their work- it literally shows through in every corner of my home. And it was a big job - we’re a three story, 6 bedroom, 4 bathroom household with three dogs that shed. Yikes! Thank goodness for OCD. Looks aside, my home smells *incredible* - in the past, with other cleaners, I’ve come home to a clean house but endured the nagging smell of bleach or other harsh chemicals for days; not this time! My home smells floral and fresh in a know-it’s-clean, not overpowering, way. Service aside, Tynia’s pricing is very competitive and she offers a great value compared to other cleaners I’ve worked with and vetted. She was among the first to respond to my posting on Thumbtack, and remained highly responsive throughout the entire process. She arrived right on time, walked through my home with me to ensure she was meeting my needs, and she even texted progress updates while working through my home, and pictures of the final finished product before locking up and leaving for the day. On top of all this, she’s *very* friendly and a gem to work with. We will definitely be calling OCD back next time we’re in need!

In response to you statement, you did not offer to do the walls for free you asked for an additional 100.00. That is after trying to increase the quote 30.00 more from the initial price of 100.00. and I did say on the phone when you quoted the 100.00 that I wanted floor to ceiling cleaned including the walls and also inside and outside the cabinets. But the job that you did is very good and if I have anything in the future done I would call but would have to get a quote in person. Thank You

George was the nicest guy. He gave good advice on what to do with my badly damaged wood floors and they had a great improvement to what they were. He was always on time and the other 2 that helped him (one his son) were so nice, courteous and extremely helpful in helping me replace my furniture. Would recommend to anyone.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How can I get my grout clean?

Dirt, mildew and grime can make your grout lines look downright tragic. If you have the ability, DIY tile and grout cleaning is definitely doable. Your main obstacles are time, project size, availability of the right materials and effort. Your first step in tile and grout cleaning is making sure the surface area is cleaned of basic dirt and buildup and wiped down. Be sure not to use a bleach-based cleaning agent, which could react dangerously with the vinegar used in later steps.

Depending on the delicacy of your tile and grout, it may be wise to start with water and friction before proceeding to a cleaning solution. In the shower you can spray the area while brushing gently, or use a spray bottle filled with warm water on countertops or floors. If water won’t do the trick, try a solution of equal parts warm water and white vinegar, and repeat the gentle brushing motion. This combination should begin to lift dirt and grime from the grout. For additional tile and grout cleaning power, baking soda applied directly to grout lines and sprayed with your water vinegar solution can help suds off sticky grime. If your DIY cleaning solutions aren’t doing the trick, store-bought sprays and pastes may have more cleansing power. Rinse thoroughly after cleaning and enjoy your sparkling clean grout.

Tile and grout cleaning supplies include:

  • Old standard or electric toothbrush
  • Stiff bristle brush
  • Spray bottle
  • White vinegar
  • Commercial grout cleaner

How do professionals clean tile and grout?

If you need tile and grout cleaning and don’t have the time or mobility for scrubbing your entire house on your hands and knees, it’s time to turn to the pros. Tile and grout cleaning professionals have industrial-grade machines designed for the sole task of cleaning the porous materials of grout and tile. Typically, a cleaning pro will come out to assess the job and provide you with a quote. Often they charge per square foot (for example, 75 cents per square foot), with higher prices or an hourly rate for areas that will need hand cleaning. The national average cost for tile and grout cleaning ranges from $190 to $250. Once onsite, the pros thoroughly clean the area by wiping or sweeping down and then vacuuming up any dry dirt. Next a chemical tile cleaner is sprayed over the surface, causing dirt to loosen and adhere to the spray; the industry term for this is “suspension.” The pros then clean the floor with professional-strength machines, which often use a combination of steam, brushes and vacuum to loosen, agitate and lift entrenched dirt. Your floor is then rinsed, removing all the spray. Usually a small room can be cleaned in under an hour. Applying a sealant afterward is recommend and will also affect cost.

How much does it cost to clean tile and grout?

The national average cost for tile and grout cleaning ranges from $190 to $250. Pros may charge a flat fee or by the square foot. Rates can vary depending on the type of tile and grout you have (more delicate tiles may mean specialized products or careful handwashing), how dirty your tile and grout are, and what part of the country you are in (regional labor rates and costs to do business affect costs). For example, one floor cleaning company charges 75 cents per square foot for tile and grout cleaning for projects that permit cleaning by machine. Another company may charge $30-$50 per hour for hand-cleaning of tiles. Companies often charge a minimum fee for services to ensure their business expenses are met when they accept a job, no matter how small. In addition, a tile and flooring cleaning professional may charge added fees, such as $25 or more, to move heavy furniture or appliances.
