Spence was one of three lines i put out there for some miscellaneous home maintenance. I hoped to make it worth someone's while to come out by rolling a few small jobs together. Spencer responded quickly, and was very flexible in communicating with me around my schedule. I laid out the jobs i had, and we agreed to move forward. The ceiling fan needed to be replaced, i wanted to see about a screen door for the front, and i needed weatherstripping replaced. I thought i needed a deadbolt adjusted, as it wasn't homing well, but that was a non-issue, it turned out. Spence came on time and got right to it, putting up the fan in short order. The screen door i'd gotten didn't fit, and he amiably went with me to a nearby hardware store to see what we could do with the correct measurements. Apparently, my door is not standard, but he walked through understanding what i might need without complaint. Going back home, he finished up the ceiling fan and put in the weatherstripping and we called it a day. Even though there wasn't as much work to be done (deadbolt was fine, and needed a screen door to fit), he was very flexible as things changed along the way. The price he quoted was fine with me, as the work he did was outside my skill set. I have his contact info (as well as here on Thumbtack and hope to call him when we get the screen door that works. He communicates well and explains things without being impatient with my non-mechanical brain. Definitely would call him back to help me again if he's available. Very grateful for his help!

I am so glad I used Thumbtack and found Spencer. I have hired him for multiple projects within a short period of time, and he impresses me with his work quality, ethics and competence every time; especially, with the excellent work on installation of the interior French door. The odd shape and limited space of the opening where I wanted the door installed posed quite a challenge already, and I added on another challenge by wanting the door to fully open at 180 degrees back onto a wall to avoid obstruction when I turn the corner. Spencer came up with excellent ideas without even requiring a special hinge for the door, so he managed to keep the labor and material cost at a reasonable range. I used to own an old house, and I had quite a few bad experiences with dishonest and/or incompetent handymen and licensed contractors. So I know a good handyman when I see one. Spencer has all the qualities that one would wish in their handyman: hard work, competence, punctuality, reliability, professionalism, and most of all honesty.
