Thumbtack was an issue; Alex wasn't. I reached him without Thumbtack: I did not contact Alex via Thumbtack, tho I saw the name there. However, no phone number was provided by Thumbtack, and the Thumbtack question asked if I needed a locksmith within 48 hours, and I needed a locksmith before nightfall. Then Thumbtack asked for a login password which I don’t have, so I figured they were not going to be helpful. I Googled Mountain View locksmiths, and the best ad I found gave a phone number so I called and Alex answered. He arrived within 45 minutes with a new lock mechanism, bored out the broken lock, installed the new deadbolt and doorknob, plus keyed them to my original keys (I had 4 of them ...) which was really helpful. He had to bore out a too-small deadbolt outlet to keep the original more attractive door latch. I was inside the house soon after Alex arrived, and another 50 minutes got the job done and cleaned up. Alex's ad with phone number was a swifter journey to my new locks than Thumbtack gave me.
