Everything is done carefully by hand.
We don’t mow lawns or weed lawns.
We don’t use weed whackers or leaf blowers.
We never use chemicals or pesticides.

Jane is great and I highly recommend her! I really needed help getting my front yard in order and Jane went above and beyond.
Specifically my yard was full of weeds and I had it weedwacked previously but didn’t want to get rid of the flowers. I also tried to hand weed it myself and also with help. But that is a lot of work and took too long.
My regular garden help is fast and efficient but does not know much about plants. And this is where Jane really excels!! She knows plants and trees and has a great aesthetic sense. She works hard and really does a great job. I trust her and have recommended her to my neighbors who really like her as well!

So glad to have found Jane! I am getting a little too old to keep up with my large garden, but I don't want to give up my gardening habit. I have tried other gardeners in the past, but was not satisfied with their common reliance on weed-whacking, power hedge clipping, mowing, and loud blowers (vs broom) for clean up. Jane's practice is gentler. While she can and does work alone, she's also happy to talk about the garden with me. She knows and likes plants and understands the relationship of "garden" with "time". Truly, this is "finely detailed" old fashioned hand gardening--like picking out the grass and oxalis in the day lilies; mulching around plants (not burying them); digging out individual dead plants (without damaging the roots of the nearby healthy ones); tying up rangy ones; planting new plants correctly (i. e. mixing a bed of mulch and new dirt, gently watering them in; and she's happy to consult too on plant types and needs). I asked her once to install a bird bath and create a fern garden. After several visits, we are still working out our relationship--that is how much help I want and need and how often I'd like her to spend some hours in my garden. I do like that she knows what she's good at and what she's not interested in doing: for example, she's good at revitalizing old overgrown plants by carefully pruning out the accumulated layers of thatch and deadwood; she's not interested in rebuilding irrigation systems (though she's happy to test and repair individual drippers and sprayers in an existing system). I like the care and knowledge she brings to my garden and hope our relationship continues for seasons to come. I recommend Jane if you want a knowledgable hand gardener.

The winter rain created massive weeds in my front garden, which is all rocks and plants. It is an extensive job to carefully pull all the weeds without pulling the plants. I’ve done my own work in the past and it’s at least an 8 hour job. Jane and her helper were punctual, tidy, knowledgeable , and detailed in their work. My garden looks spectacular and I’ve already booked her for more work

What can I say? Jane is like no other. She is low-key, earnest, honest, doesn't use chemicals or blowers or weedwackers; she is a gardener or looks for beauty in everything. She may not be for everyone, but she is perfect for me and my neighbor.

We hired Jane to help weed our front and back yard. She does everything by hand and looks great! It’s slow, hard/tedious work, but she’s a champ! She’s also working with us to help amend and improve our soil (it’s all heavy clay). And hopefully this fall, we’ll be able to do some plantings.
