Introduction
I am a dedicated teacher and performer.
I have a BA in music from Columbia University, where I trained extensively as both a teacher and a performer. I have performed at the Monterey Jazz Festival, Yoshi’s, and SFJAZZ, and won awards from Columbia University, Downbeat Magazine, and the Banff Center for Jazz and Creative music. I perform in jazz, Latin, and rock groups around the Bay Area.
I love to teach students of all ages and levels and has performs and teaches rock, jazz, folk, latin music, samba, funk, reggae, and more. Teaching in the Bay Area for the past 8 years, I have developed a structured, progressive teaching method that combines technical skills— of guitar and bass technique, ear training, and music theory— with helping students develop the curiosity and confidence to explore styles they love.
I teach ensembles at the California Jazz Conservatory, Berkeley High School, and Bandworks in Oakland.
