Great trainer. He gets you where you need to be. Carlo will go out of his way to work with you on schedule changes and makes sure to do what he could to accommodate you. I would recommend him to anyone that wants to accomplish their goals in the gym.
I've been training with Josh for over a year and a half now. I first decided to train in mixed martial arts just as a new workout routine, and because I enjoyed the sport as a fan. I was essentially starting from scratch, and because of that I felt that getting personal training would be more effective than taking large group classes so that I would get the fundamentals down from the start. Josh was very patient in teaching me all the basics. He's a great teacher, and is able to break down some very complex techniques into simple instructions that can be applied. He also understands and focuses on what his students goals are and gears the training accordingly, so that you're always learning something specifically catered to helping you achieve them. Ive come a long way since I first started working with Josh and because I have gotten results faster than I originally expected, I now have a different set of goals from when I began. I have no doubt his teaching can help me get there. Josh definitely puts you through a tough workout, but its a lot of fun and I really look forward to it each week. He has accomplished a lot in this sport, so he can fit whatever experience level you are at. I consider him not just a coach but a friend and fully endorse anyone looking for a trainer to check him out.
Daniel is a quality individual in addition to being an accomplished Muay Thai fighter and excellent instructor. I've known Daniel for years now and he has greatly helped improve my technique.
I attended Cynthia Jolicoeur’s “Intro to Personal Defense Readiness” course in the Boston area over Labor Day week-end last year (9/4/16). I had no specific expectations other than to learn some new ideas and techniques. (I am a 5th degree black belt in the Ed Parker American Kenpo style, so brought that experience and mindset into the training.) I was quite pleased to receive such a thorough presentation on how the Blauer PDR system differs from martial arts training, along with a wealth of other information that is not typically provided in self-defense training, in particular the psychological and emotional components that accompany the physical aspect. Cynthia was extremely knowledgeable and well-versed in this material and answered most participant questions without referring to notes. The physical component was ably demonstrated by Cynthia and her “bad guy,” Dave Rood. All the participants had multiple opportunities to practice on them and on each other. The outdoor scenarios were excellent and provided realistic “hands on” experience of what to do (or not do) in the event of an unexpected attack. Cynthia’s own black belt karate experience is invaluable for helping participants who come from a martial arts background remember how the PDR system is different. Not that the martial arts experience is wrong, but that there are cases when it’s ineffective and doesn’t really prepare the martial artist mentally to respond appropriately to a sudden, violent attack. I highly recommend Cynthia’s course.
Mehran is a fantastic teacher and mentor. He can be a brutal taskmaster or a supportive guru, depending what's needed in the moment.
An incredible dojo for both youth and adults. Traditional karate taught by a very experienced and professional instructor.
This very well could be the best training you can receive in the area! I do not know of any better and my family and I have been involved in the bay area martial arts scene for more than 10 years now. The blend of knowledge and application is outstanding! You will quickly learn that Professor Corpus not only has the knowledge, but speaks from experience. He knows what is taught will work! Professor Corpus breaks the techniques down in to easy to understand movements and adapts quickly to each individual. You will not find a better instructor or martial arts experience.
I contacted Terri to teach a self-defense class to a group of 18-year-old young women, before they went off to college. Terri was quick to respond to my e-mails and easy to work with. She organized the class, complete with online sign-up and payment and we were all set. The girls loved the class and felt that Terri not only taught them physical ways to protect themselves, but she also gave them loads of advice about how to carry themselves, how to react in situations, what to be thinking about, etc. I would recommend Terri highly.
I was a little hesitant to train with Geoff at first since he owns a martial arts gym & I wasn't that interested in the sport. I saw an image in my head & wondered what training with him would be like. In my head I saw a scene from the karate kid & didn't think he'd give me the kind of workout I was looking for. I am SO glad I decided to ignore my initial hesitation & try things out. The workouts we do change every time & I'm constantly challenged & out of breath. He incorporates a boot camp style approach with weights, lunges, running & several surprises that will keep you guessing walking into each session. Geoff will push you but be right there with you, encouraging you the entire way. I came home from the first workout so sore & spent & was instantly addicted. My sister listened to me detail the session & signed herself up to train with Geoff the next day. My body is already transforming & my endurance is increasing. I won't be giving up my training time slot with Geoff anytime soon.

Having lived in Japan for 8 years does not make me a better instructor, in and of itself. Nor does having been a tournament champion. 35+ years doing Karate and several years doing other martial arts helps my level of understanding. Having a deeper technical knowledge than almost anyone else outside of Japan helps as well. But what really sets me apart is the passion that I have, not only for Karate-do as a way of life, but for teaching it in a way that helps students progress as quickly as they are capable of.
