JJ and I have started an intense workout regimen that quite frankly is kicking my a@%... but is exactly what I need to get back into shape both in muscle tone and cardiovascular stamina. He is at once approachable and friendly, he doesn't shout but will hold you to pushing yourself as far as you can go, and then a little more. If you are committed to getting into shape, I HIGHLY recommend meeting up with JJ. He is also extremely knowledgeable regarding nutrition and will literally answer any nutrition questions I have as often as I have them throughout the day via text in a very quick manner. I also really love the variety of workouts he has led me through: weigh training, intense cardio, interval training, boxing/martial arts... I'm pretty convinced he can do anything. Three things you should know: 1. You will sweat... a lot! 2. You will be sore... really sore. 3. You will have a good time through it.
OJ is 1 of the best personal trainers I've ever come into contact with. For starters, your initial meeting is a workout created to personalize your strengths and weaknesses for future sessions. Afterwards, he speaks with you regarding your target goals, time frame, ideal weight etc. Meanwhile, he's compiling a special profile just for you in his computer. He sends weekly updates on your progress like: body fat percentage and weight loss/gain. In addition, he also sends motivational text messages during the week. He really is the most professional personal trainer I've ever encountered. I'm just 3 weeks into my training sessions and I'm already seeing results. Thanks OJ!
Great first training session! Very informative and personable , looking forward to my next session!
I was looking for a personal trainer to get a kick start to get back into shape after hip surgery. Found Kevin through Thumbtack. After just a few weeks of training with Kevin I felt as if I had been given new life. Kevin got me not only stronger with lifting weights but also concentrated on a stretching program that put me back on track to walking and running again. I appreciate all he has done for me.
When I first decided to start working out with a personal trainer, I looked online for personal trainers in Pasadena. I ultimately decided to go with Hugo based on all of the positive reviews I read of him on here. Since the reviews initially helped me make a decision on choosing Hugo as my personal trainer, I just had to leave my own review. Before committing to train with Hugo, he offered me an introductory deal so that I could experience working out with him. The first couple sessions he evaluated my strength, endurance, and overall physical ability. Once my fitness level and goals were established, Hugo set up a training program and nutritional plan for me. He begins every session by explaining and demonstrating the exercises in the circuit. He also clarifies and demonstrates the importance of proper form, which makes it really easy for me since I'm a visual learner. At any point during the exercise if I forget to use proper form, Hugo reminds me and encourages me throughout. He is very good at helping me understand which muscles each exercise is working out. I like how during every session, he is focused, patient, and motivates me to make sure I'm giving it my all. His professionalism and friendliness make it all that much more of a positive experience training with him. I've been training with Hugo for about three months now, and I can say that I'm truly happy with my results so far. My strength and endurance have greatly increased since our first session. I've noticed my body fat decrease and my muscle mass increase. I also feel much better when I'm exercising and eating healthy, it has greatly helped with my anxiety. I definitely plan on continuing to train with Hugo. I'm excited to see how my fitness level and physique continue to progress. I'm glad that I chose Hugo as my personal trainer, it is obvious that he loves what he does and cares about his clients. I definitely recommend Hugo for anyone looking for a personal trainer, you will not regret it!
Hands down Jobi Morrison is the BEST personal trainer! I have been training with Jobi for 5 years. I'm the strongest I have ever been! My workouts are never boring. I always look forward to see how he will challenge me with cardio, strength and balance and I am never disappointed! Jobi always takes the time to listen to my questions about fitness and nutrition and always provides sound advice. I usually shy away from recommending people or businesses, but with Jobi and Fitness Comes First I say Go Now! You will NOT be disappointed!
Paul is an extremely professional, friendly and helpful trainer! He is experienced and knows what he is doing. He gives out meal plans and excercises that is suitable for my level. I have been training with him for three months now, results are obvious and satisfying! I am really happy with Paul and would recommend him with no doubts!
Yes, me and my husband hired Ted as a private trainer because we we're very impressed by his knowledge and his passion .Cannot wait to start the training: )
Manuk gave me an absolutely 5 STAR work out EVERY SINGLE SESSION. Honestly if you are serious about your body goals and are going to commit to work out and have a healthier eating, I totally recommend going to Manuk for training, you would be working hard and he won't give up on you. He really knows what he is doing and was able to answer every doubt I had about the proper way to do any exercise, doubts about the diet I was having before and why I was not seeing results in other gyms or training by myself. I had a great experience and changed the way I was training for the best, so I thought it would we worth to leave 5 stars here, so hopefully this is helpful for anybody who is willing to work hard and wants to achieve great results on their body.
I've been working with Gabriel at DeVine Physiques for a little over 2 months now. Having been senior editor for a personal-training and group-fitness training magazine in years passed, I had some definite criteria in mind when looking for someone to help me overcome my difficulties with diet-plan adherence and learning quintessential moves that I was afraid to try due to injury potential if performed incorrectly. Upon meeting Gabriel for our free consultation, we reviewed my history with diet, exercise and past injuries, as well as my current goals vs. efforts I'd tried on my own to reach them. He asked the right questions, but more importantly he let me talk about these topics in-depth when needed and actively listened. He did not have a cookie-cutter approach in mind... he was looking for ways to optimize a plan to promote diet/exercise-program adherence and injury prevention relative to my goals with a conscious consideration as to my physical characteristics and limitations at that time (flexibility limits, minor chiropractic concerns, native structural particulars such as being bow-legged, flat-footed, etc.). The plan I brought to the table was "burn and build": start with a goal of losing 25 pounds (cutting), per the suggestion of my physician ... and then shift gears to building muscle on top of that new leaner frame (bulking) --- with cycles of both going forward from there. Gabriel worked with me to develop that idea into action. He advised me re: the importance of tracking calories and made suggestions as to apps that could be leveraged to aide in that often-tedious endeavor. He set me up with his customized trainer/client app and I connected MyFitnessPal to it to funnel data re: my daily nutritional and hydration tracking to him. We've started with two 50-minute workout sessions per week for now. Our goal has been to keep me below 2,000 calories per day... and his strong suggestion (not mandate, mind you... very important) to track everything has opened my eyes as to the caloric and nutritional content of everything I *was* eating (holy crap!) and have currently shifted to eating (oh thank God!). Coupled with drinking at least 96 oz. of water per day (also tracked) to help keep the body hydrated and aide with hunger as my body adjusted to the caloric reduction, my prior junk-food habit/addiction has gone away --- which, as I write this, had not fully hit me re: how big of a deal that really is. I haven't thought of a soda or French fries, etc., in quite some time... instead, I've been trying to figure out just how many ounces of chicken breast are on my plate at XYZ restaurant so I can get an accurate calorie figure for my tracking. ;-) The physical results have been *much* more than I initially expected. In roughly 2 months I've gone from 225 pounds at 5'11" to 204, and now we're looking at what to do once I hit my 200-pound goal. The current verdict is to go for another 10 pounds and see where I land and how I feel before shifting gears to more-intense focus on building/bulking. My cardio efficiency has increased greatly, as I no longer feel like I'm going to fall over going up and down flights of stairs. And whereas I was wearing XL shirts when I walked in the door, I recently shifted to L for the first time in a very long while. I've actually started to look forward to shopping for new clothes and don't dread going into fitting rooms and facing the mirror --- even the ones with horrible lighting. LOL For me, the key to success has been a combination of really wanting to do this coupled with Gabriel's friendly, positive reinforcement. He always points out when I've broken through barriers in my workouts with him, and has schooled me in very understandable terms re: basic anatomy, form, how things such as sitting and driving affect our flexibility and posture over time, etc. Gabriel's never mandated I do anything... instead, he's *encouraged* food tracking, hydration, caloric reduction, showing up for all our sessions, etc., couching those actions as being the bedrock for achieving the goals that *I* walked in the door with. The responsibility lies with *me* to do the work in the exercise programming he sets up for each session as well as the between-sessions work (which is actually *more* important in the long run). His welcoming, friendly, encouraging advisement regarding form and function as we work together in those sessions helps me keep moving forward progressively, efficiently and safely. We developed an easy rapport quite quickly, but Gabriel's very good about keeping us on task ... all while allowing me to catch my breath and regroup between sets or cardio sprints. There is no militaristic aggressive "go go go!!!" kind of atmosphere, but rather a "when you're ready... you've got this... you can and will because you are" approach to gently psyching me up when I might be feeling a bit of a dip in my gas tank. And when I'm actually lifting -- particularly if we're escalating weight to a new level -- he knows when to turn on a little-bit-more-"cheerleader" type of encouragement to help me push through... again, though, all centered on the idea that this is *me* working through *this moment* aiming for completion of *this movement* while being able to trust that he's there to help me make adjustments for optimal safe execution and spot me should I run into an exertion failure --- which is pretty rare, given his method of having rebuilt and reinforced the infrastructure of my core, lower back and legs with moves that I always wanted to try but was scared to do (deadlifts, in particular). He's walked me through those learning curves and longstanding hesitation to the other side where I'm much more confident and actually making marked progress in form + how much weight I can lift. I'm doing things at 43 years of age that I'd always been scared to do. If this has been my experience at the 2-month mark of working with Gabriel, I can't imagine where we'll be at the 4-month mark... or the 6-month mark! This has definitely been one of the most important and positive investments I've made in myself, and definitely the most physical-fitness progress I've made all around since having worked with a personal-trainer roommate who schooled me on basics in my mid-20s. The body usually changes quickly in your 20s, and I was afraid that I'd have a slow tedious climb in my 40s... but Gabriel's coaching (and my diligence; very important factor) have made that climb much faster and fulfilling than I thought would be possible. I look better. I feel better. I eat better. I move better. I *am* better. Other people have noticed ... and *I* have noticed -- not just on the surface, but inside as well -- and I want to keep moving forward to see what working with Gabriel holds in store around the bend.
I'm currently working with Eric to gain strength and flexibility (and improve my overall health). He has been great! I've been seeing him twice a week for about a month, and look forward to continuing training with him. A couple of things that I really appreciate about Eric and his training sessions: - He was courteous of my budget from the start and let me know what was realistic to do within my budget - He explains every exercise in detail (proper form, where you should feel muscles working, how a spotter would interact with the client). This is important for me, because being a girl and not growing up in a gym I had no clue where to even begin. So this is laying a good foundation for the long run even beyond our training sessions together. Also, it makes the client feel more comfortable when they know in advance where the spotter will be assisting at all times. - Eric is always on time. Even at 5:30 AM. He has a client before me at 4:30 AM and is there for that too. - He's been very kind and flexible when I have to travel for work and is willing to adjust the days that we meet so that I still get my two sessions a week in. - He is looking out for you in the long run. There are so many times that I feel discouraged because I can't quite complete a set or my form isn't right because I get tired. He is always quick to remind me that those things come in time as I build up strength. And it's true-- each time I can do a few more and do it better than before. He sets realistic goals and knows that things do not come over night and he wants you to realize that too. Overall, I'm really pleased with how things have been going. It's not a fast process for some of us, but since first beginning I have seen that I have improved in strength and that my body is shaping up. He's a great guy and knows what he is doing. I appreciate that he uses a style that incorporates basic weight lifting and body strength exercises, things that I could realistically do at home or a gym to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Thanks Eric!
Aaron Valizan has been my brother, Shawn’s personal trainer and “life saver” for a couple years. Shawn was a NCAA two time Men's rings gymnastics champion, and was a personal trainer himself up until he had his 2 strokes. Shawn is only 55 years old. A few years ago, had two strokes which left him incompacitated and unable to: • Read • Remember anything • Walk on his own • Eat his meals without help • Make it to the bathroom • Remember where is living He has stayed at two Skilled Nursing Homes: San Marino Manor for 6 months Glendora Grand which is where Shawn has resided for two years. I decided that Shawn needed someone who could relate to his background and understand his illness and physical handicaps. It was very difficult for Shawn because he did have a vague memory of being a PT and thought he still had clients that he worked out with. I started researching Personal Trainers in his area and found Aaron Valizan. He was highly recommended, and I also found out he had 10 years of nursing experience in the hospital setting, so I set up a time for him to come out to Glendora Grand convalescent home to meet Shawn. They hit it off right away. Shawn was actually smiling for the first time in years. I started booking their appointments. Shawn showed progress after only a few weeks. Then, Shawn caught MRSA, which is a highly contagious disease. He was transported to Inter Community Hospital where he was put into an isolated department with a private room. Aaron visited Shawn (wearing scrubs, gloves and booties to protect him from contracting the disease). He immediately lifted Shawn’s morale which in turn got him to start to eat. The hospital staff was really impressed with how well he worked with Shawn. Aaron started organizing some training sessions for Shawn for when he returned to Glendora Grand. Within one month, he had Shawn out of the wheel chair and walking on his own (Shawn’s disease was gone). Every time Aaron walked into Shawn’s room, his fact lit up and he was ready to “go work out”. When Shawn was feeling better, Aaron decided to sign him up at a local gym, giving Shawn a lot more to look forward to do. His symptoms improved on a regular basis. He remembered that he had appointments at a gym and could not wait to go. I could not be more happy! Today, Shawn has improved on a regular basis. Aaron has kept up their appointments at the gym and coming by to work with him at Glendora Grand. Shawn looks forward to every appointment. Honestly, I have been so impressed with Aaron and thrilled with the amount of time and patience he takes to work with Shawn. I think we are beginning to see “The Light at The End of the Tunnel” and hope that Shawn will improve on a regular basis. I cannot thank Aaron enough for all that he has done for my brother. He has literally “saved his life”! Thank you, Aaron!! XOXO Patti Jenkins
I have been training with Adrien for only a few weeks now and I can see definite results already. Adrien is a very inspiring and motivating trainer that goes out of his way to ensure that you get the best training experience possible . Everything from meal programs down to just checking up on you to make sure you’re doing fine. I highly recommend Adrien to anyone who wants to get in the best shape possible.
I worked with Margo over the course of about 5 months and had a great experience. I had already been exercising consistently for a while but Margo helped me bring my fitness to a whole new level. He created a personalized workout plan that incorporated the things I wanted to focus on: functional fitness and MMA. Throughout our time together we also modified and tweaked my workout to focus on my weaknesses. He was always available for questions and delivered on his promises. If I didn't have to move away I would still be training with Margo, and I highly recommend him to any of my friends who want to push themselves past their comfort zone.
Lucas challenges you to try a bit harder, go a bit farther that you thought you could. Then, when you realize you actually did it, he pushes you yet farther. His training sessions are thorough, well organized, and great workouts.
I enjoyed the first training session and I'm looking forward to conquering this weight with his support
Chris is a great trainer and really knows his stuff. For many people, it’s tough to take that leap and hire a personal trainer to get in shape. It’s especially tough if you haven’t done any weight training before. However, Chris will teach and work with you no matter what your abilities are. He’s funny and keeps the intensity at the right level to see results while still being able to enjoy it. After working out with Chris, I feel refreshed. I don’t feel overworked, exhausted, or too sore. I’d highly recommend Chris to anyone who wants to improve their health, body, and happiness.
Hiking, running, strength training, and HIIT are just a few of the things she has trained me in. Very well rounded trainer, will easily adjust/ modify the regime to fit individuals with injuries or difficulties. Great with motivating you to increase your intensity.
We have been training with Shoshanna since March. My daughters and I have worked with trainers before however, it never stuck. Shoshanna has a way of keeping us motivated and encouraging us to stick with it. Shoshanna has specialized workouts for each of us and they have been extremely effective. We have not lost a ton of weight but, we are toned and we have lost inches. She is very good at what she does but, she will not take it easy on you. She will push you and you will have muscles hurt that you didn't even know you had but, I ALWAYS feel great after a workout with Shoshanna!! We are very lucky to have found her!!!
Goat Fitness has been one of the best things I have ever done. Like most women I know I struggle with my weight. I am small person ( 5 feet tall) so I feel like my weight goes up and down a lot. I have done diets and boot camps and everything worked for like 2 weeks but, I never really achieved the results I was looking for. I would loose like 5 lbs and stop losing weight. Not to mention I couldn't eat anything I wanted and the work outs were ridiculous. Lucky for me one of the girls I work with goes to Goat and she looks amazing and all she did was talk about how great this gym is. There are those people who LOVE working out .... I am not one of them and I don't understand the people (like my friend) who are super into it. But.... she looks great and she told me her trainer said she can have a bagel and cream cheese. That got my attention!!! Every work-out/ trainer I have ever seen has told me that I basically have to cut out everything I love to eat which for me is wine and cheese which sucks so I do it for 2 weeks then I stop losing weight and say screw it back to eating what I want. There is another way!!!! So I decided to go see this amazing trainer that allows you to eat foods you actually like. Lets just start with everyone at the gym is incredibly nice. I talked with Jon and he talked about getting the results I wanted and how to reasonably achieve them. He was honest and up front this isn't the place where you drop 20 lbs in a month first that isn't healthy and it typically doesn't taste or feel good. He explained that what I was looking for would yes take time but, we could certainly get there in a few months. I don't have ridiculous goals I just want skinny girl arms and to fit into a pair of pants like the average woman. I appreciated Jon's realistic approach to weight lost. We did all my measurements and he built me work outs that would help me get to where I wanted. Another great thing you can pick different packages so I picked the 30 minute training ones. I have never been so happy to work out. The work outs are definitely changeling but, they don't kill you ( you will be sore though) but, its over super fast! Back to the food because when I think weight loss I typically go to great well I can't eat this or this or.... and it goes on. I can have my wine and my cheese!! We set up my macros to show me I need this many: Carbs, Fats, and Proteins. I can eat those anyway I want!!! If I want to have wine that is fine I just need to make sure it fits into my macros. The trick is if I know I am going to have a glass of wine later its the first thing I put in my phone so I know I am having it and I see what else I have the rest of the day so I get my wine! This fits into my life which is more important to me. I work 2 jobs and don't have a ton of extra time. Most importantly they care they really do and they are very flexible. I am happy to say .... I fit the pants .... and I have wine & cheese :)
After searching/meeting other potential trainers, I came across Mike. Every week, I am excited to see how I will respond to his training and, so far, I am impressed. Mike loves what he does and you can "feel" that devotion everytime you step into the gym. His attitude is positively infectious. He will push you and have you believing you can move mountains...(by the way, if Mike says you can, you probably can!) He is flexible and patient. Yet, he somehow manages to train with loads of energy and genuine enthusiasm. All of this combined with tons of knowledge on strength training and conditioning, proper nutrition and various ways for a speedy recovery... Bottom line: I could not have asked for a better trainer.
