This was GiGi’s first formal grooming experience. She’s a 3 year old rescue pup who has had nail trimmings only at her Vet since we adopted her. She also had an aversion to water, plus will not climb stairs to our bathtub, therefore only had patio baths during the warmer months. I did not realize what she was missing out on until she had the Rebel Dog Grooming experience. Ace was such a tender handler. He made her feel like she could trust him within minutes. She was a nervous puppy, however warmed up and let him take care of her teeth, nails, ears and incredible spa like bath. She ran into the house with so much excitement and a huge grin. She smelled incredible; she looked so shiny. I could not recommend this company enough. Ace was accommodating to my schedule, he was incredibly affordable and he did an outstanding job on GiGi. We will be regular devoted clients from now on.

Mobile Pet Spa came up as a result in a search on thumbtack in my zip code. They called me up immediately to notify me they don't service my area when they could have just ignored my inquiry so props to them for taking the time on a non-sale. They were professional and courteous on the phone and based on that I'd prob say they'd be worth checking out if you're in the area they service (farthest South is Venice). Seems like they'd be a good service to work with.

My dog looked wonderful when she was finished---and I am VERY picky. He looked like a ragamuffin as he has been very ill and unable to be groomed. She worked a miracle. Very good demeanor with my dog. Grooming salon was spotless and smelled wonderful. Will definitely use her again.

From the get-go Patricia was very timely in returning my call and was very accommodating with my requests. She even arrived ahead of the scheduled time which was absolutely appreciated. Patricia herself was very warm and friendly and it was obvious to me from watching her interact with my bulldog that she's very invested in what she does and remains a consummate professional. My bulldog was returned to me immaculately cleaned, brushed, and in a very good mood which is indicative to me that he suffered little to no stress while being groomed. I would recommend this service to anyone looking to fulfill their pet grooming needs and look forward to using this service again.

I just adopted paralyzed dog and I was so afraid to take him to the glooming. But she has experiences for taking taking care of paralyzed dogs. So no worries at all ! I was super happy to know her. She came to my house at 6:00am and finished 7:30am (Before I went to work !!). That is really really convenient for working dog owners. Her truck was so clean, roomy, and well-equipped. My dog became soo cute in new hairstyle also hair was so soft and smooth. She is totally nice and I strongly recommend her !!!

Bo went in pulling on the leash and crazy excited when he saw another dog. One hour later he walked out calmly and was completely unphased by other dogs he saw. I've got to keep it up, but Paul got me and Bo back on track!

    About

I learned to groom in 1972 when I went to Hill's Professional Dog Grooming School. Grooming dogs and cats has been my lifelong career and passion. Before I owned my own business I have worked for other pet shops, grooming salons, animal clinics, and mobile grooming services. Now that I own my own business I decided that offering both mobile and salon would be best because there are advantages to both types of service.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is included in a dog grooming?

Dog grooming is so much more than giving your dog a bath. Dog grooming is a broad term that covers all aspects of canine cleanliness and hygiene. The services included in dog grooming will vary based on your needs and what you choose to pay. Unless they are rolling in cowpies or playing in mud puddles, most dogs are okay getting a shampoo bath only as needed. You’ll know when they need it if they smell bad or are bringing dirt into the house. Some dogs, like shepherds and shih tzus, have thick coats that can get matted and tangled without regular care. Pro dog groomers can deftly blow dry a dog’s hair after a bath so that it is shiny and smooth. Dog grooming can include brushing that detangles dog hair and also thins the undercoat to minimize shedding.

Dog grooming also includes hygiene services such as toothbrushing and ear cleaning. Clean teeth are important to the health of your dog, and the pros have the patience and proper technique to get it done. Regular dog grooming can stave off tear stains, those reddish stains below your dog’s eyes. Anal gland expression is something not many people want to do on their own, even if they love their dog. A dog groomer can safely and efficiently release any blocked anal gland fluid. Other dog grooming services include nail trimming and clipping. Nationally, dog grooming prices range from $60 to $80. Most dog groomers offer discounts to customers who purchase monthly packages or bundle multiple grooming services at one time.

Do cats have to get groomed?

It’s not crazy to have your cat groomed. Grooming will keep your cat’s fur soft and silky as well as give you early warning about any health concerns. Regular grooming can also help reduce the volume of hair your cat may be shedding and keep your longhair kitty cool if you live in a warm climate. Professionals competently groom your cat and are trained to manage them if they resist being groomed, while you may get scratched doing the same task. The national average price for cat grooming is $50-$70. Pet grooming prices may vary based on the task. For example, a bath and brush for shorthair cats may be $15, $20 for medium-hair cats, and $25 for a longhair. Cat groomers can also keep your cat’s ears cleaned, trim their nails, and provide haircuts if needed. Average prices for haircuts can vary from $30 to $95 or more, depending on whether the cat is shy or aggressive and whether their coat is in good condition, matted, or otherwise difficult to groom.

    What is a dog groomer?

A dog groomer is a service professional who provides dog grooming and basic hygiene care for your dog. Dog groomers are typically animal lovers who are competent and comfortable working with a wide range of dog breeds and temperaments. Dog groomers are knowledgeable about the care needs for different kinds of dog coats. A poodle will have different haircut needs than a shih tzu, for example, so it pays to have a trained pro provide the proper cut. Good dog groomers know how to safely clean your dog’s teeth, bathe your dog, and cut their nails without going too short. They understand how to trim the hair from around your dog’s face, express anal glands, and clean your dog’s ears. Many people who choose dog grooming as a profession also pursue other dog services such as attending veterinary school, running a doggy day care center, working as a professional dog walker, and more.

    What is a dog groomer?

Keep your family dogs happy, healthy and clean with regular dog grooming. A dog groomer is a business owner or employee of a dog grooming business who specializes in dog hygiene and grooming. To find a reputable dog groomer, research reviews, ask for references and confirm that the groomer has good standing in the dog grooming community.

A dog groomer should be comfortable and competent working with dogs of all breeds and temperaments. Typically a groomer will have trained with other groomers and taken educational courses to keep abreast of the latest safety information and techniques. There are brick-and-mortar dog grooming businesses, as well as mobile dog groomers who bring all their equipment and provide their services at your home or location. In some cases, brick-and-mortar businesses will also pick up and return your dog for an additional fee.

Where can you get your cat groomed?

Cat grooming keeps your cat’s fur tangle-free and clean. Most businesses that offer dog grooming or general pet grooming also offer cat grooming; some businesses even specialize solely in cat grooming. Look for a professional who has training grooming cats or belongs to a professional association such as the National Cat Groomers Institute, because cat grooming techniques can be different than for dogs. Cat grooming can encompass a wide range of services. In addition to haircutting, hair detangling and hairstyling, cat groomers can trim cat nails, clean out your cat’s ears, give flea baths, demat, trim facial fur, bathe and even blow-dry your cat. Health safety and etiquette requires your cat to be in good health and have all their vaccinations before using grooming services.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
