Dominic is a really knowledgable and friendly professional. He knows his work, has a lot of experience and a pleasure to hire. Very polite and hard working. He went with me to Home Depot to help me select my wood and made many suggestions to help me find the best product within my budget. He's punctual and courteous to my neighbors. Dominic did a great job refinishing our front door. Our neighbors cannot believe it is our old door -- just all fixed up with new paint and hardware. He also fixed up the door surround. I liked that he sent progress pictures of the door -- it felt like he really has a strong commitment to his work.

I hired Dominic for a small quick project. Just needed two wood tie racks for my closet. Within a few hours of our first phone conversation he was basically done with the project. I even had a last minute change to one of the tie racks and that wasn't a problem. I would definitely hire him if you get the chance. I'll be using him again for another project I have coming up.

I've hired Dominic Coatney to do several jobs at my house. These include: custom-made wooden gates for the backyard, repairing a broken 40 year-old rocking chair with sentimental value, and repairing/ replacing the rotting wood trim on the roof, so that we could install new rain gutters. Everything he has done has been top-notch, high quality work. In addition, he's always done the work quickly and at a very reasonable price.

How did you get started doing this type of work?
My woodshop teacher Mr. George Cammas from Novato High School unknowingly Inspired me to be who I am today. I have always done handyman work for friends and family but then I started teaching woodworking for a non profit after school program 7 years ago. I now know why he did what he did.
What types of customers have you worked with?
fences, gates, beds, shelving units, repairs, installations
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I built a beautiful queen sized bed for my brother in law made out of reclaimed Kentucky barn wood. I put 6 coats of satin polyurethane on it to bring out the luster of the old dirty white oak wood. As well as giving it a nice candy shell to keep his sheets clean.
